As the mountain became veiled in cloud
we lost sight but not sound,
sound of the kick drum,â¨sound of the guzheng strings,â¨sound of the Groove Armada we Superstylinâ.
We turned the village into our temporary home, we wandered around, snatched wigs from each otherâs heads, swung on the hilltop, and slept sideways.Â
Some found the summit, others found the nest.
A bit out of breath but breathtaking nonetheless
â Blame it on the altitude â
What we know is that this one was for the history books: Baw Bawâs first music festival. Our first Mountain.Â
Itâs never a sure thing how a festival vibe is gonna vibe. You canât just Control C, Control V that stuff; take it across the state, and all the way up 1,500âŻm. Cars ran hot. Temps ran cold. Like always, the weather dictates the outcome and itâs our job to dance around it. Mumma mountain kept us on our toes. Yet we held it. You held it. And we grooved into another year just like weâve always done.Â
There was a unique feeling that came with this edition. A collective calmness, a shared slowness, a nowness. The atmosphere was reflective of a crowd who cared about the land and each other. By all accounts you made our jobs easy.Â
Thank you for choosing to spend your New Yearâs Eve with us, for your continued support of our little gathering, for your contributions whether through volunteering, buying a pass or sharing your talents, and for trusting us to host you for a seventh time.Â
Have a great year (itâs all uphill from here) x Diega

the dance floor is a transitory place. here one minute, gone the next
population: 1 - â
where frayed edges of everybody (every.body) are dissolved and bound to the same beat
expect steep highs and wide low end
and a space where self expression mutates into co-expression
experience, re-experience your body
rinse, repeat

They say the name âBaw Bawâ comes from the Woiwurrung or Taungurung languages, both part of the Kulin Nation. Baw Baw roughly translates to âechoâ, referring to the way sound carries through the mountain ranges.
Weâll be locked in a call-and-response with the mountains while dancing under the canopy of the twisted snow gums: icons of the Australian alps.
One of the hardiest eucalyptus species, with a will to survive just like our little festival.
Their limbs have evolved to bend under the weight of the snow, rather than drop like flies when old and cracked.
Things are sounding good for 2026âŚ.
Lineup pushed to next week, good things take time.

Pack your toboggan, weâre hitting the slopes.
Start the year with your head in the clouds. Our first doof with a view: elevation 1,564 metres.
The NYE veterans know that this gathering of ours is a travelling circus of sorts.
From the wetlands of Wail, the forests of Raglan, tracks of Hamilton and around the Goulburn River. For â26 itâs all about big beautiful Mt Baw Baw.
This year, weâre going for lower temps (better for day-dancing and tent napping) and higher vibes (better for everything).
Weâll be the temporary custodians of the entire mountain and ski village, both a responsibility and a privilege on the traditional lands of the Gunaikurnai and Wurundjeri peoples.
No sleeping neighbours in sight, only the snowgums guiding and guarding the dance floor.
Passes are live for past attendees >>> lineup next week!
To those whoâve landed here, old and new,
â¨Our 2025 edition was a doozy. You felt it, we felt it. Weâre still buzzing from the stories that have carried us through the past ten months. It feels strange to be talking about NYE again, but in reality, itâs just 10 weeks away. Letâs avoid the fact the yearâs almost over by doing what we do best: planning the fun part instead.
This creation is now entering its seventh year. Seven years. Nearly a decade of highs, lows, countdowns, kisses, and makeshift pubs in the most unlikely places. More than anything, itâs seven years of this community stomping into the new year together.
By now weâve learned a thing or two about running this festival, and we reckon it showed in year six. Hopefully, youâve learned a thing or two about us too - we do our best to always deliver. This festival is built by those who work behind the scenes of your favourite festivals, year in and year out, putting on the party we wish existed.Â
Passes are live and first offered to those whoâve danced with us before, giving them the first chance to join again. We cherish and trust the faces weâve seen over the years, but newcomers are also welcome. Numbers will stay similar to previous editions in the boutique realm: limited capacity = limited passes. Once theyâre gone, theyâre gone. Past attendees should have received their link by now, and a small public allocation will be released once the OG crewâs had enough time to get their shit together. So if youâre new here, hang tight, details for the limited newcomer release are coming soon.
This is a space for everyone. It lives and breathes on mutual respect for each other and for the stolen land we gather on. We donât tolerate any form of -isms or phobias, aka zero tolerance for assholes of any kind. Bring good energy, look out for each other and leave your ego in the city.
Lineup to come shortly. As always, the music is an extension of our friends and collectives, both local and abroad. The sounds are designed to make you dance, discover something new and burst your musical bubble.
More yapping to come..
