Indigenous Creatives Collective is a place for artists, for ancestors, and for those yet to come. We felt it was time for our website and branding to reflect that, too. While the core of our values remains the same, our community, programming, and reach are ever-expanding. We believed it was time to refresh our organization to truly represent all that we do and who we are. We collaborated with the incredible designer Drew Garza and artist Paige Pettibon (Salish and Kootenai) to create a thoughtful and unique brand and website. Paige’s artwork and rebranding embody everything the Indigenous Creatives Collective stands for, and each drawing helps to tell the stories of the artists, the land, and the community. Drew intentionally transformed all the beautiful artwork into a website that feels alive, just like the land and just like us. You may have noticed that “yəhaw̓” is no longer part of our name. We are now simply “Indigenous Creatives Collective”. The word “yəhaw̓” holds special meaning for this community and for us. As we expand beyond Seattle, we wanted a name that resonates with Indigenous people near and far, ensuring that “yəhaw̓” is always spoken with love and care. No matter what our name or language, we will always honor those who came before and those who carry us forward as we caretake this land on Coast Salish territory. We invite you to explore our new website at IndigenousCreatives.org and let us know what you think! Keep an eye on our social media as we unveil more of our new look! This rebrand and website design were made possible by funders like Seattle Office of Arts & Culture and First Nations Development Institute.

CHRYSALIS “Chrysalis” is a community-driven exploration of the beauty of metamorphosis in a brutal world The Thurston County Museum of Fine Arts (TCMoFA) is proud to announce the opening of its 4th annual Spring group art show, “Chrysalis,” on March 13th. This free to enter public art exhibit invites visitors to explore themes of change and metamorphosis through the works of 21 talented Washington-based contemporary artists. As all things transit from one state to another, it can be helpful to throw up a shield, to mask ourselves or our charges in the face of danger, much like how insects protect themselves with a golden sheath during metamorphosis. The chrysalid stage represents a moment of respite and transition, private and contemplative, and ultimately metamorphic. “Chrysalis” peels back the layers of protection we wrap around ourselves as the time for emergence has inevitably come. Featuring works from: Anton Seder Asenath Lizárraga Camille Trautman Chad Yenney Devin River Fennel Overstreet James Kidd Jerzy Repsch Kelly Watson KEMC M Freeman Marissa Magic Molly Wheat Baker Ollis Bedspread Rachel Konsella Suzanne Wenner Tania Colette B. Taylor White Thomas Patterson Tiffany Ahearn-Wood Vito Valera Join us at TCMoFA, located at 120 Olympia Ave NE, Olympia, to experience this incredible show Running from March 13th through April 25th. Opening reception on March 13th from 6 PM to 9 PM, featuring opportunities to talk with the artists, drinks, and light bites. Members of the media are encouraged to attend, with interview opportunities available Graphic design and creative direction for this amazing poster by Drew Garza ( @dgrza ) photography by @hoekjephoto #tcmofa #chrysalis #olympia #olyart #inspireolympia

We are excited to unveil our new logo, designed by Drew Garza. Drew Garza is a graphic designer, artist and educator working with local and national clients to craft intentional, expressive, human-centric brands. He is the owner and creative director at Studio Brute. @dgrza Here, he presents his thinking behind the OAA design: "OAA’s new brand identity system is responsive, alive and activated. Its flexibility to change shape and respond to spaces mirrors the dynamic of the organization. Its utilitarian construction acts as a playful framework for artists and their work."

The Land Remembers This exhibition is a love letter to the land, to the stories it tells, how it nurtures us, protects us, and guides us. It is an unearthing of memories and reconnecting. The land holds rememberings, holds our ancestors’ bones, and will one day hold ours too. We asked all the artists to share work that connected them to the land and helped them remember their connection to it. From harvesting materials to shared memories, their stories are diverse, beautiful, poetic, and so very important. Swipe through to learn more about their practices and the work they are sharing. We hope you will join us for the opening on October 3rd from 5-9 pm in Olympia at TCMOFA. This exhibition will be open through November 22nd. “The Land Remembers” featured artists curated by Mikaela Shafer (Hopi): Sophia Anderson (Shoalwater Bay Tribe) @acornsasquatch Alison Bremner (Tlingit) @thealisonbremnerhealisonbremner Aganaq (Curyung Tribe) @aganaq Hexe Fey (Oglala Lakota) @h3xtacy Malia Peoples (Kanaka Maoli) @otherpeoplespolyester Sara Siestreem (Hanis Coos) @sarasiestreem Taylor White (Skokomish/Squaxin) @tigerlily.taylor Amber Stephens (Puyallup ) @amber.stephens.arts Rachel Kopel (Tlingit) @themythofmeaning Andrew Roibal (Acoma Pueblo) @andrewartworks__ Griffin Quinn (Tsimshian) @__.astraoptics.__ Arlin Yazzie (Diné) @arlin.yazzie Exhibition Poster Design by Drew Garza @dgrza
