'Bloom #7' by Godeleine de Rosamel (@gderosamel ) for Late Bloomers that's currently on view through June 13th at Chefas Projects. Glazed ceramic and metal, 19.5 × 18 × 5 inches. Rooted in a multidisciplinary practice spanning painting, ceramics, and found materials, de Rosamel explores the tension between formal precision and tactile immediacy. In Late Bloomers, that tension is heightened through a process that is at once intuitive and technically rigorous. Using a wooden mallet, the artist isolates fragments that retain structural integrity, then recomposes them with newly modeled forms, petals, connective elements, and sculptural structures, alongside previously fired but unresolved ceramic components. Each composition is carefully balanced with close attention to proportion, gravity, rhythm, and movement. Be sure to take time for a visit and experience the entire exhibit in person. Gallery hours are 1-6pm Wednesday to Saturday. 📍 134 SE Taylor Street, suite 203 (right across from Shalom Ya'll) For inquiries: [email protected] 📸 by @mariogalluccistudio

TONIGHT ✨ We’re thrilled to welcome back artist Godeleine de Rosamel (@gderosamel ) for her fourth solo exhibition at the gallery, Late Bloomers. In this new body of work, de Rosamel begins with an act of undoing. Previously finished ceramic pieces, some made years ago, are intentionally broken apart, their fragments reworked into entirely new sculptural forms. What emerges feels less like remnants and more like transformation: works suspended in a continual state of becoming. These pieces are especially striking in person, the scale, texture, and technique reveal themselves slowly. Scroll for a little sneak peek 👀 Join us Friday, May 15th from 5–8pm at Chefas Projects for the opening reception. Music by Zach Erickson (@lazerwolf78 ), drinks flowing, and lots to celebrate. Hope to see you there ✨ GODELEINE DE ROSAMEL LATE BLOOMERS Opening May 15th | 5–8PM CHEFAS PROJECTS 134 SE TAYLOR STREET, SUITE 203 PORTLAND, OR 97214 To request an advanced online collector preview, please contact [email protected] ▪️ graphic design by @dgrza 📸 @oliviafougeirol

'Portrait of an Iris' by Laura Burke (@llbllbllburke ) that's currently on view through May 9th for #SoBeIt at Chefas Projects. Oil on canvas, 30 × 24 inches. In this series, Burke explores these universal themes through intimate, narrative scenes composed of everyday objects and imagined figures. Drawing inspiration from the portraiture of Sandro Botticelli, the still lifes of Mary Fedden, and the atmospheric interiors of Pierre Bonnard, she constructs visual mythologies that merge art historical reference with personal symbolism. This transformation is partly inspired by Burke’s reading of The Curious Lore of Precious Stones, which rekindled a childhood fascination with the hidden meanings of natural objects. In these paintings, Burke reclaims that sense of wonder, restoring emotional and symbolic power to what might otherwise seem inert. It's the last week to catch the show!

'To Change a Word' by Luke Forsyth (@luke_forsyth ) one of three sweet little gems for #BeyondTheGates that's currently on view through May 9th at Chefas Projects. Acrylic, pastel, colored pencil, fake wood flooring, shaped wood, and paper on canvas with artist frame, 26.5 x 51 inches. Forsyth’s compositions balance playful imagination with a reverence for traditional imagery. Drawing on motifs such as flowers and landscapes, his work embraces a universal simplicity while maintaining a dynamic visual tension. Frequently set against deep, chalkboard-black backgrounds, his vibrant mark-making achieves a striking contrast that amplifies the emotional resonance of each piece This is the last week to catch the show!
