Teachers are performers. Every day, they get up at the front of the room and are all “GUYS WE’RE ABOUT TO CRUSH FRACTIONS” even though deep down their Grade 5 fractions trauma is threatening to TAKE THEM DOWN🌀 Here’s where I’m coming from👇 I’ve been in the studio recording an album w my band @goodnightsunriseband for the past month and guys let me tell you: every single day, I notice more and more how similar music is to math - not in the way we traditionally think the two are related (yes, there are patterns and counting and time signatures etc), but in the way that MUSIC-ING is the same as MATH-ING. There is SO much problem solving that happens in the studio, so much trying and failing and trying again and being surprised when you exceed your own expectations - and there’s SO much anxiety, fear of messing up, doubt, skepticism, and … imposter syndrome 👀 So on today’s episode of ✨Math Therapy✨ I sat down with our producer @devonlougheed to talk about his strategies for helping musicians work through their anxiety so that they can tap into their true creative nature - because all of the strategies I’ve noticed him using with US over the past month are strategies that can be used IN THE MATH CLASSROOM! I can’t wait for you guys to hear this one - and I can’t wait for you to realize that you are BOTH a rockstar AND a mathematician, because the two really aren’t that different ✨🤘

📍 we went everywhere, man! Wow, you never realize how far you’ve gone until you take a peek back to see.
