Stepping into Krishna in Nauka Charitra felt like stepping into a world where teasing becomes devotion, and every glance holds a story. Surrounded by these radiant Gopis, each moment on stage turned into a living painting… playful, intimate, and timeless.
There’s something magical about sharing space with dancers who don’t just perform, but become. The laughter, the chemistry, the stillness between movements… all of it felt like it belonged to something much older than us, yet so alive in that moment.
Deep gratitude to @ppadmini.rravi Ma’am for this exquisite choreography, and to our Guru @dancepreya for shaping it with such love and clarity.
Honored to present this with the incredible Devi School of Dance team… and to lose myself, even if just for a while, in Krishna’s world.

We had the joy of performing a traditional Kavadi Chindu at the Austin Hindu Temple to honor Lord Saravana Subramanya Swamy. This piece carries the spirit of devotion and surrender, showing the journey of a devotee offering their kavadi with faith, rhythm, and heart. @dancepreya choreography captured that essence beautifully, blending storytelling, grace, and the energy that makes this tradition so meaningful.
It was a moment of prayer through movement and a chance to keep this beautiful cultural expression alive.

We so blessed to have our Guru @dancepreya from the Devi School of Dance brings to life the tender tale of Radha and Krishna in a mesmerizing Padam: Rusali Radha Rusala Madhav. In this dance, Radha’s gentle longing turns into playful grievance toward Krishna while he, with heartfelt grace, seeks to calm her sulking tones and soothe her heart. This isn’t just drama. It’s devotion, filled with emotion so deep, it resonates in every gesture.
On this Janmashtami, may love sometimes impatient, always pure bind us all. Wishing each of you a day full of heartfelt reunion, laughter, and divine grace.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Janmashtami

Our little star from the Devi School of Dance brought the stage to life with Mukunda Mukunda, celebrating the playful spirit of Krishna this Janmashtami. From his cheeky love for butter, to the sparkle of mischief in his eyes, to the pure love he spreads to everyone around him — this performance was a joyful reminder of the magic of Krishna’s childhood.
Wishing you all a Happy Janmashtami filled with laughter, love, and light!

Shiva–Parvati Kalyanam
In Hindu mythology, the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati marks the union of two cosmic forces. Shiva, the ascetic and master of stillness, withdrew from the world after losing Sati. Parvati, Sati reborn, won his heart through devotion and penance. In our Bharatanatyam depiction with Devi School of Dance, this celestial wedding came alive gods, sages, mountains, and rivers bearing witness. The union symbolizes harmony between energy and stillness, creation and destruction. It reminds us that love, patience, and devotion can bridge all differences, bringing balance to the universe.

These women have influenced my life in the best of ways. Asha Aunty came into my life 45 years ago and shared the gift of Bharatanatyam. She introduced me to Padmini Aunty through summer workshops over 30 years ago and I am ever grateful. To this day, both of these amazing women guide and inspire me through their passion and knowledge of dance and life itself. I love and revere these women immensely 🩷🙏🏽. This rare photo was taken at my students Arangetram earlier this year in Bangalore, where both of them were honored 🪷
There’s something rare about a person who doesn’t just teach you what to do, but shows you how to be. That’s what @dancepreya is for all of us at Devi School of Dance.
She’s not just the reason Devi School of Dance exists. She’s the reason it feels the way it does like home, like family, like something bigger than all of us.
Preya gives her everything to this art form and to every single dancer who walks through the door. She teaches us with so much care and honesty, not just how to move, but how to grow, how to stay grounded, and how to dance with our full hearts.
We’re so lucky to have her as our guru. And even luckier to walk this journey with her.
Happy Guru Poornima, Preya. We’re endlessly grateful for you.
