During the lockdown I made a giant paper mache head. Everyday I would wakeup with a purpose, get dressed and get to working on it. It became very ritualistic. It provided me with an end goal and reason to keep waking up. I really needed that at that time.
As I am going through another metamorphosis of sorts I wanted to honour that papermache head which is now lost somewhere. I wanted to honour all those times it made me want to create and brought me back to experiencing Joy.
Sooju Raani was made on a whim in 3 days out of an Amazon delivery box and toilet paper. She was someone that needed to be birthed I guess to make my life be filled with curiousity and hope again.
I'm so grateful to be able to express myself and use my hands to create things. Many more such fun whimsical things to be made and lots of love to be shared.

A sweaty art night Thursday with lovely shows.
One of the more power packed art show schedule, the art galleries were packed like sardines. Which was a nice surprise.
It was a good time, meeting and mingling with fellow artists, knowing what drives them and their journey.

As someone who really needs to coaxed into everything ( my brain really can't regulate dopamine ) Everything needs to be optimized.
The right lighting, the right setup, buying a new sketchbook for every new idea to hoarding the right stationery supplies just to be prepared, all of it contributes to me being able to work.
Is it exhausting and all consuming. Yes.
Do I still work on my bed sometimes. Yes.
Do I still continue. Yes.
Do I function. Barely.

Pigeon Paglu.
Not many people know this but I can't visualise things in my head. Aphantasia as its called is the inability to create mental images in your mind. Which seems kind of counterproductive when you work in visual design.
Many times its in the making that I find a rhythm which eventually leads me to the end result, sketching helps, making diagrams help too.
When I started to paint this pigeon is when I got the style in which I would eventually paint the other paper mache objects.
I had my brother come take pictures of 3 of the paper mache objects, which is a new step I would like to add to my practice.

Had the sweetest birthday in a fresh colourful home with sweetus of mine. @giggling_monkey came from Dehradun and made it so so special.
@colourlessblendr had a 'make your own devarshi' station which was such a fun arts and crafts moment in the evening.
Cakes were cut, cutlets were had and no noise complaints to report. 2026 is the year of the Aquarius, it's different and nothing like before.
Grateful to love and be loved by an amazing set of friends.
