10 years ago we started a band and said “let’s make an album and give it a year and see what happens”. We pooled our money and found a producer (
@danhosh ) who made us feel like pro’s even though we had never been in a studio before. We’ve been confidently faking it ever since. It’s been a slow and steady road but somehow the album kept finding the right people and brought us all around the world in various modes of transportation.
The industry has changed a lot and the current infrastructure makes it even harder for bands to exist, but even at the worst times we’ve chosen to stick together, with the collective awareness that Wild Rivers is greater than the sum of it’s parts. We’ve been lucky enough to have amazing musicians and team join us over the years to make this thing feel like a strong collective and a true family. Outside of everyone’s hard work, we know how much luck is involved in us continuing to exist,
and we don’t take it for granted.
To celebrate 10 years of our self-titled debut, we went back home to Toronto to play two venues - the first being the same venue we held the 2016 album release show at, and the second being the venue at the top of our bucket list when we started the band. It will unanimously go down as one of the greatest weekends of our lives. So much of this career is forward-facing, “ok what’s next?”, and this weekend we were really able to take it all in before we step into the next decade.
