Some film pics from Better Repetitions, a medium agnostic fair of editioned artworks I organized with @tonimsennett April 11–12. Thank you to all who said yes and to everyone who come through. Such a beautiful event with so many remarkable takes on what an editioned artwork can be. Big thanks to @a365newyork for letting us use their beautiful space ✌️

We arrived late to the @yalegraphicdesign thesis exhibition, but then @izzaalyssa appeared auspiciously and gave us a private tour along with some prodigeous students from Sculpture. Thank you! Cannot imagine a better way to close this loop. These are the pics I snapped before my phone died. Hard to describe how it feels to see this cycle through..so proud of this group 🥹 This show was the culmination of the work done by the first class I tought at Yale, two years ago. So much exciting growth, development and sophistication in this group. I hadnt anticipated how much of the character of their earliest inclinations was still present—in many cases returning to this quality after a period of questioning and sometimes wild experimentation. Worth noting here that the theme of their first semester was the Ouroboros ;)

I recently had the pleasure of working with a dance company for the first time—Site Specific Dances—to develop the typographic language for their newest piece titled "Love Letters: Cage to Cunningham." The work uses letters written from John Cage to Merce Cunningham between 1944–1947—the time during which they were falling in love and Cage left his wife, Xenia, to be with Merce. The piece, like the letters, breaks from the lack of emotion their work is often characterized by. Instead it is full of yearning, lust, insecurity, neurotic fixations—all the trimmings of a love affair between two obsessive artists who helped define an era of the avant garde that continues to inform the present. This was my first time working on something for the stage and I cannot wait to do it again! What an incredible experience with such a brilliant, interdisciplinary team. The images here are from a WIP performance done while in residence at Guild Hall in Easthampton. More updates and more shows to come... @sitespecificdances @guild_hall @michaelspencerphillips @dinok_nyc @em_kazaryan @adamtendler @matthewrickettscomposer @foxesinfiction @chaosandprecision @clydersheets @trcyanthny @pagano_lorenzo791 @shawn_lesniak @juliandonahue @johncagetrust
