i am still feeling so inspired + fulfilled by the incredible night of music that @iammizu__ conjured at the wonderful @lightandsounddesign earlier this month. it was a deep pleasure playing within that fieerrrceee lineup, and we will all be so so lucky when the new music that Mizu performed is released to the world !!
i closed my set with an edit of Janice Robinson/ Livin’ Joy’s house classic “Dreamer”featuring a broody French horn quintet, microtonal psychedelia, cicadas and more, it’s a maximal hot mess lol. and it’s on SC now
p.s., for a long time i misheard the lyric as “here we lie all alone/ *in my* dreaming”—(it’s “am I dreaming?”)—I really loved that tho … one’s dreaming as a lifelong continuity, no start or end, you’re just born already in the middle of it and can tap in at any time. aw

for the pre-show music of Zoe’s runway presentation this past Sunday, I took Hilary Duff’s “Come Clean”, slowed it down to 25 bpm, and rearranged it for microtonal organ. 🤓
this 31-tone tuning allows for crunchy supermajor and subminor chords, alien-sounding passing notes, and a tiny downward key change by one-fifth of a tone (~39 cents) with every repetition of the chord progression
the only actual organ in the world capable of playing this arrangement is the 31-tone Fokker organ, designed by Adriaan Fokker in the late 40’s, currently housed at the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ in Amsterdam
