❤️ Welcoming ceramic artist Ruby Yu-Lu Yeh @yehceramics to DOT!
Ruby’s ceramic practice explores the vessel as a site of quiet reflection. Working across wheel-throwing and hand-building, she creates forms that sit between function and sculpture, grounded in tradition while remaining open to experimentation.
Her work reflects an ongoing dialogue between her Taiwanese heritage and Australian upbringing.
Through curved silhouettes and considered surfaces, Ruby creates pieces that invite stillness, contemplation, and a sense of connection to memory.
Each vessel feels like both a personal offering and a shared space, holding presence in a way that is calm, generous, and quietly powerful.

Setting your creative intentions for the year? Our next 6-week ceramics course kicks off Wednesday 21 January in our North Hobart studio.

Week six dives into glazing, so you’ll finish with a solid overview from form to finish.
There are a couple of seats left if you’d like to join us. Link in bio.
🔨 Calling all wood and metal folk!
DOT is opening up a couple of casual memberships for makers who know their way around a workshop and want the room (and the gear) to get things moving.
If you’re a Hobart-based designer-maker looking for flexible access, solid machinery, a supportive community and space to actually finish the ideas rattling around in your head, this is your cue.
Casual membership gives you 24–7 workshop access, induction, plus the freedom to work on your own schedule without the full studio commitment.
If that sounds like your kind of setup, head to the link in our bio for details and how to apply.
A big warm welcome to Edith Perrenot @stormmeedith , the newest artist to join DOT! ❤️
Edith works from nipaluna, where she digs into the in-between spaces of culture, place and perception. Poetics sits at the heart of her practice, guiding how she shapes ideas and materials. Edith moves comfortably across ceramic, paint, wood, paper and natural materials, following whatever medium best carries the story.
We’re thrilled to have your energy here, Edith, and can’t wait to see what amazingness you’ll be working on for your upcoming solo show in March!
Big thanks to all the lovely folk who wandered into DOT as part of @oh_hobart and @australianceramics Open Studios.
While we’re not open to the public every day, visitors are always welcome. Just reach out to any of our members to arrange a visit or chat about a commission.
Huge applause to @oh_hobart and @australianceramics for bringing together another brilliant weekend that connects community, design and art. We can’t wait to do it all again next year.
