Over the last couple of years I have become increasingly absorbed in listening to and crafting sound, as opposed to writing the notes that make music. Listening to the way resonances interact with each other and in a particular space.â¨â¨This modest performance at
@Weallplaysynth last night is a little milestone on that journey. Sampling live from a record of Dylan Thomas reading various classic poems, I created tape loops of segments of his reading, letting the rhythms in the dialogue interact with each other, before further manipulating the signal with the limited analog tools at my disposable. It sounded awesome and mesmerising reverberating around the space, as all the elements slowly lock in over time.â¨â¨I was super thrilled with the response from the audience. Often, the artistic experiences that have given me the greatest sense of awe have been live sound performances, art installations or unusual theatre that suspends all conventions, usurps expectations and take us into the unsafe and unknown. It was amazing to be the one creating that experience for others (thanks to
@theloveinnbristol for hosting!) I look forward to doing it again soon.â¨â¨P.S. I just acquired a tapehead wand by
@beepboopelectronics from
@elevatorsoundbristol , so expect to see this at a future outing!
