Christopher Derek Bruno focuses on translucent media, incorporating CAD, model-making, printmaking, and CNC production to create abstract compositions that explore color and light. What began as a constraint, limiting his palette to the three primary colors cyan, magenta, and yellow, soon became a catalyst for discovery, revealing the subtle and powerful interplay between these hues.
Bruno draws a direct parallel between his work and the experience of watching a sunset, both demand presence, patience, and attentiveness. In his practice, individual perception plays a crucial role; the work does not reveal itself all at once. It is through the viewer’s willingness to slow down, look closely, and engage with nuance and shift that the work is fully realized, completed through the participatory act of what he calls “intentional viewership.”
This is the final week to see his exhibition, if/then/yes/and. On view through Saturday, June 28, 2025. Be sure to stop by the gallery before it closes!
