La tecnologia alla base dell'iniziativa è il Puma AI Creator, un sistema sviluppato da DeepObjects che consente ai fan di creare progetti unici combinando descrizioni testuali, strumenti di personalizzazione e opzioni stilistiche. Ogni partecipante riceverà un certo numero di crediti iniziali per sperimentare il processo creativo e può inviare fino a due progetti entro la scadenza del 20 dicembre 2024. Una volta raccolte tutte le proposte, un mix di valutazioni dei tifosi e pareri di esperti selezionerà le dieci migliori idee. Queste saranno poi sottoposte a una votazione pubblica che, a gennaio 2025, decreterà il design vincitore. La maglia scelta non solo sarà indossata dai giocatori del Manchester City durante la stagione, ma sarà anche disponibile per l'acquisto, rappresentando un momento storico nell'integrazione dell'intelligenza artificiale nel mondo del merchandising sportivo. Giocatori come Ederson e Rico Lewis hanno già sperimentato la piattaforma, progettando una maglia da portiere ispirata alla rete di una porta da calcio, che verrà indossata in campo nel corso della stagione corrente.
