Recognizing a need that has been uplifted by many, Women & Family Services partnered with @3rdexposure and @motivatedbymathematics about a year ago, to begin gathering feedback from Fathers In Treatment and Recovery at 7 Recovery Centers across the state. From their voices, we were able to: * Identify where support systems worked and where they needed to be improved * Identify gaps in services * Gather feedback to shape this training, which will enhance how providers support men in remaining engaged, informed, and connected fathers while navigating treatment and recovery. This training is about building a more responsive, equitable system, one that sees fathers not just as individuals in treatment or recovery, but supports them as parents and vital members of their families. We hope you can join us on May 19, 2026 Link In Bio

Roxbury Community College is where it all started. @seeroxburycc It’s where I met friends who would remain in my life for more than 20 years. It’s where I first began thinking about what my next steps in life might look like. I remember walking those same halls without much direction, unsure of what the future would hold. Yesterday, I walked back into those halls with purpose.🙌🏽 I was there for work to support a wonderful Maternal Health Lunch & Learn, feeling nostalgic and grateful. I even ran into one of our former professors & someone who supported us building Club HOPE, which inspired me to build this HOPE! The room was filled with people who do this work with their whole hearts, many of them from this very community. And there we were—three girls now women from Dorchester—committed to opening doors, creating change, increasing access, and supporting others & each other however we can! It’s a blessing to have a journey and a story to tell, that is rooted in resilience & possibility, because we know that far too often, the outcome is different. This is for the girl walking the halls somewhere with no clear direction…just keeping going, seek guidance, & lean on God, his plan is greater than you can imagine! 💚🥹 Thank You Justin Petty, Ms. Clark (RIP) & all the staff at RCC who sewed a seed & believed in us, because of you we are!

Black mothers deserve to be heard, believed, and protected. Our stories are not statistics, they are evidence. Black maternal health is a public health priority. This is about life, dignity, and justice! Black women are still disproportionately impacted in maternal health outcomes. Bias in care is real and it costs lives. Support should never depend on where you receive care. Every mother deserves safe, respectful, and equitable care! We must move from assumptions to individualized care through Support, not surveillance. Equity requires action not just intention! When systems change, outcomes change!

This Black Maternal Health Week, we are reminded that listening is not optional, it is essential! At this year’s Black Maternal Health Conference, we had the opportunity to share safe space together to learn and Listen to amazing educators, clinicians, and speakers. We Listened to the voices, stories, and lived experiences of Black mothers, because our stories are not just statistics, they are evidence! The Center for Black Maternal Health and Reproductive Justice held a screening of the powerful documentary “Listen to Me,” which brought many of us to tears & reinforced what we know to be true: When Black women, mothers speak, they must be heard! Listening is not just about hearing, it’s about action and change!! My hope in all aspects of the work I do, is to continue to pushing for a future where care is equitable, families are supported, and every mother is heard, before, during, and long after birth. My birthing journey and stories were less than ideal and in one case, almost took my life. I realize I still had privilege based on my complexion, & don’t take that for granted…I can imagine my odds otherwise! Listen to Black Women!!!!! Thank You to the Center for Black Maternal Health and Reproductive Justice for an amazing conference & all the work you do! 💜 #BlackMaternalHealthWeek #ListenToMe #MaternalHealthEquity #HOPE #WeStillHaveALotOfWorkToDo
