Hi! Brett and Kathryn here!
Thought we’d show our faces and provide a little studio update since a lot has been happening behind the scenes in both work and life.
Last July we officially brought Kathryn on as a co-owner which was a huge milestone (and a lot of work!) - something we had been dreaming up for a while. With Kathryn’s background in architecture we’ve been able to take on larger projects and focus on more of the architectural elements and process in house. Both of us have been able to fully practice the areas of interior design and architecture that we love while learning so much from each other along the way.
Kathryn also welcomed her 2nd son Elliot in the fall and has been slowly making her way back from maternity leave right in time for me (Brett) to head out late summer to welcome my own little human! 👶🏻
It’s been a year of challenge, change, transition, growth and beauty with a path that continues to unfold. It’s forced us to take steps back and be really intentional with our time and the projects we are working on and committing to.
We feel connected and aligned with the projects, people and work we are doing right now and are excited to carry that forward into this next chapter of Decorotation Interiors.
Thank you as always for your support. We love and appreciate you 🖤

We’re in @sunsetmag ! And Major 🐶 made a special appearance. Beautiful spread of our Cedar project in Berkeley which holds a special place in our hearts 🖤
The thought and love we put into this house only enhanced the love that was already there.
Thank you to our clients who were the most trusting & delightful collaborators, to Chris @cmcdconst and his talented team who executed our vision (and rolled with a lot of punches/scope creep!), to Molly @orcaliving for translating the indoors -> outdoors in such a beautiful way, to Sarah @anchor_and_orbit for helping us style this shoot (and endless support), to Annie @waters_studio for the perfect florals, to Tom @sunsetphoto for capturing this home perfectly, and to Christine @christinelennonplus2 for telling the story and putting together such a wonderful spread ✨
More talents and makers in these pages that are tagged as well ☺️
We are so grateful and proud to be able to showcase this project in one of our lifelong favorite magazines 🙏🏻

New studio, new chapter. We moved into our space on Piedmont Ave in January and I’ve been slowly making it feel like ours - painted the doors one of my favs (De Nimes, Farrow & Ball) and walls (Shaded White, Farrow & Ball), installed shelving (which I’m still debating painting?), and have been acquiring new pieces here and there. Still a work in progress, but the good kind.
I’d been holding onto that painting for a while, waiting for the right wall. Contemplative, quiet, a little moody. She felt right at home immediately.
The sample library is already exploding which, if you know me, tracks. But having an (almost) organized space to pull from again has been a game changer for me and my clients.
If you’re a maker, craftsperson, or vendor who wants to come educate us on your materials or product lines, our door is open - please reach out! And if you’ve been thinking about a project, you know where to find us 🙃
Project: Crafted Haven 🤍
Wrapped up at the end of last year, this Oakland Hills bathroom was a smaller scale project for us - and such a rewarding one. We intentionally leave room in our schedule for projects like this, where creative, collaborative clients trust the process and give us the freedom to completely rethink a space through materiality, proportion, and detail. Thank you A&G! 🙏🏻
Custom floating walnut vanities with softened, curved edges pair with Breccia Capraia marble, handmade Heath Ceramics tile and bespoke pulls, hooks, and mirror details. A careful mix of shapes and natural materials creates a bathroom that feels calm, tactile, and quietly special.
Small spaces can have a big impact too.

We’re so excited to share the full feature of our Bullard project in the Winter edition of @ruemagazine on newsstands now!
It’s an honor to be included alongside so many talented designers in such a beautifully curated publication. We love Rue for the range, variety and depth of projects featured and it’s a real pinch me moment to be included in these pages - one I (Brett) could have only dreamt of when I started in this business years ago.
For this project, we were fortunate to work alongside architect @aaronlim_design and builder @cmcdconst - individuals dedicated to their craft of designing and building intentional and beautiful homes. And to our trusting clients - thank you for letting us into your lives and allowing us to design your home 🤍
Lastly, a big thank you to @kellilamb_ for including our work in this issue and sharing it with the world. And to @meganmccarty for the wonderful write-up and story. We are so grateful.

A serene corner of the Bullard project primary bedroom, featuring a custom bed and nightstands we designed in solid white oak. We love designing bespoke furniture and cabinetry that’s tailored to the home - especially when we get to collaborate with skilled makers like @mf_finewoodworking . Here, the combination of soft curves and clean lines bring a sense of calm and balance under the sloped ceilings, creating a space that feels equal parts refined and restful.

A family room that invites you to sink in and stay awhile - designed for ease and everyday living. This space in our #bullardproject is a balance of playful and calm layering soft floor to ceiling drapery, a cozy deep blue sectional, and tactile details 🤍

One of our favorite views from the Bullard Project - this framed opening creates a quiet, intentional connection between the dining room and kitchen. A soft contrast of materials and tones brings warmth, movement and a sense of calm to this modern family home.

We’re excited to offer some additional design services for projects of different scopes and budgets—while still staying true to our values and core belief that intentional design can transform not just spaces, but lives.
The best service for you depends on your project scope, how involved you want to be, and the level of guidance you’re looking for. We’re now offering three tiers of design services to fit different needs:
Full-Service Design – A start-to-finish experience for new builds, full-home renovations, or smaller remodels. We handle everything—from concept development and technical drawings to sourcing, procurement, and construction oversight—ensuring a seamless and well-executed design.
Partial-Service Design – Ideal if you want a designer’s vision but feel comfortable handling the final execution. We’ll create a detailed design plan, including space planning, finishes, and materials, while you (or your contractor) manage purchasing, project management, and installation.
Consultations – Perfect for targeted guidance or a second opinion on specific design questions. Whether you need help brainstorming ideas, refining selections, or navigating the remodeling process, our one-hour consultation offers actionable insights to help you move forward with confidence. (It’s also the first step in our Full-Service and Partial-Service process!)
If you’re unsure which option is right for you, we’d love to chat and help you find the best fit. Reach out through the link in our bio! #decorotationinteriors
