Thrilled to announce that my short documentary ‘Las profundidades de la memoria’ will have its world premiere at the @melbfilmfest in Documentary Shorts! Shot in México in 2023, this film is a delicate sharing of the story of a woman named Martina that I met serendipitously in the town of Tekal de Venegas. After spending some time getting to know one another, she admitted that she had a story she wanted to share on camera. A sinister story that shaped her and her family’s lives. Despite its gravity, she has struggled to tell them what really happened. Las profundidades de la memoria is a haunting of these memories. Deep gratitude to Martina, who welcomed me into her home and shared with courage and honesty. Thank you to @playlab_films @bonnettestephania for making this journey possible via the Creators Lab program and to @apichatpong_weerasethakul for his guidance. Last winter @samsungau invited me to direct a 10 mins looped site-specific, interactive and immersive show ‘Space To Dream’ for @vividsydney and it was EPIC! Some of the most fun I’ve had on a project ever AND scooping up a casual 1.2 million pairs of eyes. Custom 12-18m tall floating towers were mounted up so we could fly @teevella over Cockle Bay in Sydney’s iconic Darling Harbour! A custom wharf was built so visitors could walk through AND phones offered a touch-sensitive way to interact with the visuals. Creating this work was a total beast and done with a gorgeous team including sound design and music by @milan.ring , @georgiamoraitis_ @collider__ for producing and @glenn_stewart_ @collider.studio for VFX magic. And of course thank you to Lucy at Samsung and the clever agency folk at @weareamplify , especially CD @ed_hallam for being fab collaborators and giving me this platform!
