I tried to release Orange Cinnamon, this 7+ year old song today in its raw demo form. I was speaking to a friend who wanted to listen to it today, and I said, fuck it, I'll just put it out. After I successfully uploaded cover art I made in 20 minutes that eventually fit the minimum required upload size I noticed I didn't have a .wav version of my demo, so bandcamp wouldn't accept it. I had to leave it for another day.
So this video is an homage to the moment that could have been the announcement that the song was finally on the internet forever, and an awareness to how easy it is to give up on a process I feel should not be so taxing. This song has many forms, I agonised many times over the years over how it ought to take light for the first time in a way the music industry liked. Although it may seem this approach I tried to take today was an edgy or rebellious act against music industry standards, it was equally also the result of years of exhaustion of mental warfare between the voices you let dictate your methods. Perhaps when I was 21 this felt anti to me, now im 31, and it just feels natural.
Todays process felt right to me. So I'll try again soon, my little Orange Cinnamon song🧡
