Issue #104 Michael Abel Deng writes to Elisa Iturbe
“Your concept of carbon form did something rare in architectural discourse, in that it named a condition that had been structuring the discipline for two centuries without the majority noticing.”

Issue #102: an Anonymous student writes to the Harvard GSD, referencing a letter written by members of the American Historic Preservation Society to the architect designing the White House's Ballroom.
“Do we feel empowered to stand true to our beliefs and participate in these urgent conversations about the built environment? Are we trying our best to improve society and change the world?
I hope… we will be vocal in our criticism of corrupt regimes, complacent designers, and bad design.“

Pairs was featured in the Archives Party 021: GSD Student Publication. Archives Parties are monthly gatherings that highlight collections from the Frances Loeb Library. Archives Party 021 presented a collection of student journals produced at GSD since its founding in 1936. They have varied widely: some ran for a single issue while others grew to nearly one hundred; some took the form of print journals, online platforms, or single-page broadsheet printouts. The content has ranged from deep engagement with our design disciplines to playful accounts of student life. And their purposes have been just as diverse —sometimes joyful, sometimes resistant, always imaginative. The journals students imagine and create while at GSD, continue to inspire a lifetime of research, scholarship, and practice.
Pairs was featured alongside other @harvardgsd student publications, including @dearopenletters
Many thanks to Ines Zalduendo (MArch ’95), Special Collections Curator at the Frances Loeb Library, and Ashleigh Brady (MArch ’26) for hosting and organizing this event.

“Research and Teaching Assistants already employed within the GSD enjoy the right to join and engage with Harvard Graduate Student Union as they please. However, Fabrication Assistants have been denied this opportunity. We dispute this asymmetry."

Issue #94 Juan Fernández González to Kenzo Tange Pavilion. Published December 4, 2023.
"...We miss you not because of the two American flags, the solar panel, and the golden box above, but because of what happened below..."
"...Yet, the canopy doesn’t go as far as it could. People wait for bus 86 between Gund Hall and the neighboring Swedenborg Chapel. There is a bus sign but no bus shelter. There is no roof above them. Would it be possible for you to go there?..."
