Quotes now invites you to check Visions of Venice, an exhibition by Adrian Yu (M.Arch I 29’) This project contemplates the cultural and physical vulnerability of Venice, and cities alike, through a visual and literary narration. The project was initiated for a month-long research fellowship in Venice supported by the Canada Council for the Arts. There, 42 bell towers (campanili) across the Venetian Lagoon were studied and documented through drone photography, photogrammetry, and drawing. The presented material, composed of digital renders and written text, hopes to raise questions of the ephemerality and sustainability of our built environment in the face of climate change and evolving sociocultural norms. The opening reception will be today (May 4th), at 6PM. Quotes is located at Gund’s 2nd Floor corridor, between the elevator and Piper Auditorium.

Quotes is now hosting ASSEMBLED by LatinGSD What Latin GSD wants to highlight through this project is the power of lateral collaboration: the kind of creative and professional exchange that emerges organically between students, alumni, and emerging practices connected to this community. Michelle and Sitalin’s curatorial vision provided the content and cultural framework, while Tile Design Studio translated that vision into a precise, architecturally considered spatial experience. Together, they created something meaningful and special.
This exhibition is a reflection of what Latin GSD believes: that the school is not only a place for individual academic formation, but a fertile ground for collaborative practice, emerging partnerships, and design work that engages the world beyond the studio. By highlighting this project, Latin GSD celebrates the creative energy emerging from within its community and the broader possibilities that open up when designers from or with heritage connected to Latin America and its diaspora work together with intention, craft, and care.

Quotes is now hosting Building Orientation & Neighborhood Form, an exhibition by Micah Weese (MUP 27’). This project explores the morphology of six neighborhoods in six cities: Medellín, New York, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Cape Town, and Rome. Inspired by studies of orientation-order and urban entropy, this project uses building orientation as a comparative and quantitative metric for urban form. In doing so, it seeks to visualize neighborhood difference, and the typological diversity of cities both ancient and modern. These snapshots of neighborhood form provide glimpses into the particular contexts from which they emerge, including colonial planning, modernist planning, sprawl, informality, segregation, and suburbanization. Don’t forget to check it out! Building Orientation & Neighborhood Form will be exhibited until April 07 at Quotes Gallery (2nd Floor corridor between elevator and Piper Auditorium).

We’re pleased to announce the opening of “Thermal-Tectonics” at the Harvard Graduate School of Design! A collaborative research and design initiative between NCKU, MIT, and Harvard, this exhibition investigates the building façade as a primary site for innovation. Led by Lindsay Hu, Joseph Kennedy, and Zhi-Ray Wang, the work features 60 site surveys and 5 climate-driven projects developed by 32 NCKU architecture students. The research explores how the “informal” architectural modifications common in Taiwan’s urban landscape can serve as a living archive for bottom-up climatic adaptation and sustainable urban renewal. The accompanying publication, which compiles the collective research and design proposals from the workshop, will be officially released during the event. 🔴Exhibition Dates: February 17 – March 3 🔴Opening Reception & Book Launch: Friday, February 20 | 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM (before Beer n Dogs) 🔴Location: Quotes Gallery, 2F, Gund Hall, Harvard GSD 🔴Director: Lindsay Hu (MIT M.Arch 2027) Joseph Kennedy (Harvard DDes 2027) Zhi-Ray Wang (MIT SM.ArchS & SM.EECS 2026) 🔴Contributors: Yi-Chen Hung, Han-Yu Ho, You-Quan Lin, Chuang-Sun Tang, Yung-Ching Chang, Wei-Jun Liao, Yu-Hsiang Hsieh, Min-Yi Chen, Yu-Hsin Lin, Jen-Mei Tseng, Po-Hsiang Tseng, Li-Xuan Yang, Tou-Un Teng, Deng-Yeh Wang, Cenfi Lin, Chih-Ning Chan, Yu-Heng Liao, Qian-Hua Chen, Tsai-En Hsieh, Tsai-Tung Cheng, Chia-Yu Lee, Wei-Cheng Fang, Vitia Weng, Jung-Ya Huang, Thomas Wei, Cheng-Shiuan Tsia, Da-Wei Lin, Peng Lin, Ting-Si Wang, Bei-Chen Lin, Syuan-Yi Wu, Hsi-Man Chen

We are kicking off the Spring semester tomorrow at 7 PM with Through the Veins, an exhibition by @dylanbaliski (MArch I 29’). About A pathway shifts through the veins of Amboro National Park, Bolivia, harmonizing with its natural circulatory system rather than disrupting it. Designed to minimize impact, the mechanical pathway lightly skims the landscape, adapting to its rugged terrain. The metal grating allows light, water, and seed dispersal to continue unabated, dissolving the boundary between built structure and living landscape. In doing so, the forest’s “veins” are free to envelop the mechanical intervention, eventually rendering the structure as an integral part of the environment.
