There are SO many Australians doing brilliant work at a community level which has a giant impact on real people. This new podcast from Partnerships for Local Action and Community Empowerment (PLACE) celebrates the success that comes from sharing decisions so everyone in a community benefits.
It's been so fun for @deadsetstudios to create an auditory sense of "place" in towns such as Kempsey, Alice Springs, and Shepparton.

Really. The red-suited Santa existed before Coca-Cola's domination of the beverage market, but so did other depictions. When Coca-Cola went all-in on the jolly image of Santa in a suit the same colour and shape as their own drink, all those other versions of Santa quickly disappeared.
This is just one example of how ultra processed food companies reshape culture to sell products.
Associate Professor Phillip Baker co-led a major Lancet series showing ultra-processed foods are making us sick. They're engineered to be irresistible, but actually studies have found emulsifiers can act like detergent in your gut. These foods are also linked to obesity, diabetes, bowel disease, depression and certain cancers.
With more than half of what Australians eating ultra-processed, Phillip argues policy needs to change to protect real food.
