People often measure dementia by memory. But that’s only a small part of the story. But for many people living with it, the hardest parts are the things people don’t see — overwhelm, fatigue and trying to stay organised. Sharing this because so many people experience it but rarely talk about it. šŸ’™ We talk about these experiences often on the Hold the Moment podcast šŸŽ§ #dementiaawareness #youngonsetalzheimers #alzheimersawareness #dementiaadvocate #livedexperience

I recently had the absolute pleasure and honour of meeting @_jimr and his beautiful husband Tyler at a @dementia_australia event. Jim is living with younger onset dementia, but he’s not letting that slow him down. His #AustralianStory is now streaming on @abciview and I cannot recommend it highly enough. A beautiful story of love, life, loss, family and playing the best damn game we can with the cards we’ve been dealt. Jim, you are an inspiration and my personal hero. ā™„ļø #dementia #youngeronsetdementia

Four years ago, our world flipped upside down, when Dad was diagnosed with Young-onset Alzheimer’s. This year, when we take part in the Memory Walk & Jog in Dad’s honour the fam are running 10KM! To raise funds for Dementia Australia. If you’re able to donate, share, or even send a little encouragement, it would mean so much to us. I’ve put the link to our page in my bio. It’s an amazing event and a reminder of how Dementia touches so many families. It’s our hope in doing this we raise awareness, funds, care for families and so eventually no one has to go through this evil disease. I am struggling to write the words of what it does to people. I am so unbelievably proud of Dad and the advocate work he does every single day. He is a beacon of light and an inspiration. His podcast has touched millions and for anyone dealing with Dementia - Hold The Moment podcast is where it’s at. Here’s to holding onto the moments that matter! Wish us luck hitting the pavement. šŸ‘£ Thank you for being part of this with us. ā¤ļø @dementia_australia @memorywalkandjog

What an unforgettable evening šŸ’™ Our Dementia Research Community Gala Dinner on Saturday was more than just a celebration, it was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together. Thanks to the incredible generosity and support of our community, we raised over $230,000 to continue the fight for a cure. This year also marked a special milestone: 10 years of raising awareness, funding vital research, and standing alongside those impacted by dementia. Every conversation, every contribution, and every shared story has helped bring us closer to hope. To our supporters, partners, event volunteers and everyone who joined us on the night, thank you. Your commitment fuels progress, and together, we are making a difference. A big thank you to our MC Peter Overton, keynote speaker Jim Rogers and Dr Kathryn Goozee, researcher Dr Oana Marian, magician Magic Mike, auctioneer Damien Cooley, performer Tori Darke and DJ Lara Luv for making the night great. Here’s to the next chapter in the journey toward a cure for dementia. šŸ’« Event photos are available on our website (link in bio). #DementiaResearchCommunity #Research #Dementia #galadinner

Last night in Sydney. A room full of generosity, kindness and hope. Honoured to share our story and help raise funds for dementia research. Grateful to everyone who supported such an important cause. #dementiaresearch #fightdementia #alzheimersawareness #brainhealth #sydney
