I’m proud to be endorsed by @dcfirefighters in the Ward 1 Council race and will fight to ensure that firefighters and emergency medical workers have the wages, working conditions and healthcare that they deserve.

CAT RESCUE! 🐱 DC first responders rescued this cat from a burning home Tuesday morning!
Luckily the little guy is expected to make it - thanks to them!

DC’s Office of Unified Communications (OUC) confirmed to me that they only had 16 call takers working the night of September 20th, when a DC firefighter was shot and left on hold by 911 for three minutes.
OUC says minimum staffing for the night shift is 17 call takers. They also told me 6 of the call takers who were working, were on overtime.
OUC blamed a surged in calls for the delay in getting to the DC firefighter’s call, but the union questions how many other calls they also didn’t get to that night?

Today, DC Firefighters Local 36 honors the lives lost at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
We will never forget the 343 FDNY firefighters, the police officers, the military and civilian personnel at the Pentagon, and the brave passengers of Flight 93. Their courage reminds us why we stand united—in the firehouse, in our union, and in our communities.
