Earlier this week, a promotion ceremony was held at Engine 20 in NW DC, celebrating the continued growth and leadership within the DC Fire and EMS Department. As part of our promotion ceremonies, members are presented with specially customized boxes during official events to mark their advancement in rank. Chief Tony Kelleher shares insight into this meaningful and evolving tradition that honors dedication, service, and achievement. We proudly recognize the following members on their well-earned promotions: To Lieutenant: Sgt. Michael Neuman – HM-1 to Lt at T-2 Sgt. Christopher Hinde – BFC5-Aide to Lt at E-27 To Sergeant: FF Robert Roberts – T-11 to Sgt. at E-21 Congratulations to all—your commitment and leadership continue to strengthen our department and the communities we serve. #dcsbravest

On October 27, 1928, Private Albert J. Greiner of Engine Co. 27 (on theater detail at the time), died in the line of duty after he was struck on the head by a falling timber in the alley at the rear of the old Fox Theater. Today, on the 1300 Block of F Street NW, #DCsBravest dedicated a Memorial Helmet in his honor and memory. #NeverForget
