Wednesday, February 8th 2023 - Got a chance to snap a few photos of Alan Hampton’s and Alejandro Elizondo’s sets for an intimate audience at The Bridge. The performances ranged from sweet solo sets to powerful groovy tunes with a full band. The ensemble was made of Armando Lopez, Andres Ferret, Aaron Lebos, Brian Potts, plus features and additional support by Justine Garcia & Ana Paz. Audio engineering by Dani Munoz. Dumbo Brooklyn, NYC - circa 2012. Had the honor to call this beautiful place home from 2007-2013 and part of me still does. Why? Well it truly changed my life. A few months into this journey I experienced so much. I was mugged, I fell in love, jammed with street musicians, got a job as a hand model (yup you read that right), met humans from all over the world, and experienced the most incredible art & music. By the end of it all I had experienced the fast paced life, the endless opportunities, and immense cultural diversity this city is known for. I felt like a honorary New Yorker. I mean, where else can you get a hair cut at 3am after a burlesque show and then go for Ethiopian food? Only in NYC. Oh and the food. Wow! It’s truly amazing and you can find anything you crave. And it’s genuine food from anywhere in the world. My favorite part tho were the people I got to share this time with. A lot has changed since, NYC isn’t the same and it is constantly changing. That’s what it does. What we experienced then was the version of NYC we were supposed to experience. And I am filled with gratitude to my family for always supporting my adventures, to my friends for being the wildest craziest humans, and to my grandfather for telling me: “there’s two ways to see the world. Save up, pack your bags and go travel or go to NYC and watch it pass in front of you.” To this day these were some of the best years of my life.
