Yesterday, we shared Signalism publicly for the first time in Athens.
What began as an exploration into brand and communication has gradually expanded into something much bigger: how signals shape behaviour, systems, culture and civilisation itself.
From cave paintings to algorithms. From mythology to media systems. From bioluminescence to branding.
The conversations afterwards were my favourite part.
Not because there were answers, but because it felt like something genuinely alive had started.
A huge thank you to everyone who came, contributed, challenged and expanded the discussion.
And especially to @indy_johar , whose systems perspective pushed the conversation into places I hadn’t fully considered before. @mariagbustillo for your research smarts and and the whole @houseofbeautifulbusiness team for creating the space for conversations like this to happen.
I’m excited to see where Signalism goes from here. #signalism

Moon landings:
A piece we made by mapping every recorded moon landing to date. From early NASA Surveyor probes onwards: Each disc marks a landing site, the position is exact and the scale reflects time spent on the lunar surface.

Athens : A sunrise gathering:
Sunday 10 May
6:18am
Philopappos Hill (Philopappos Monument)
A simple gathering at sunrise.
[We’ve been doing these for the last few years on Hackney Marshes @wedontknowwhatthisis23 ]
Now, as part of @houseofbeautifulbusiness .
We’ll meet early, before the city wakes.
No speakers. No schedule.
Just a moment to pause.
And to start the day together.
No need to prepare anything.
Come as you are.
Would be great to see you there if you can make it.
David
Athens.
In a couple of weeks I’ll be joining the World Beautiful Business Forum. A gathering that asks a different question -
Not how business grows.
But what it grows for.
From cave.
To crave.
To cloud.
To cosmos.
I’ll be sharing Signalism.
A way of seeing how the signals we create shape the worlds we build.
And what those signals say about the future we are making together.
Because communication isn’t neutral.
It never has been.
It builds cultures.
It builds systems.
It builds civilisations.
So the question is simple.
What are we really signalling?

I’ll be sharing this conversation alongside Indy Johar.
May 7 to 10
Athens, Greece
More than 100 voices.
One shared intent.
Toward a life centred economy.
If you’re there, come find me.

Built to Matter explores a simple shift: brands moving from signals of desire to systems people rely on.
In a world that’s changing fast, the real question is no longer what people want, but what they would genuinely miss if it disappeared.
This is what @davidjonathanjohnston , ECD at @acceptandproceed , shared in our recent sit-down—and what he’ll be diving deeper into at @w_international_network this Thursday @180.studios

1 → 34
Not just numbers.
A pattern.
A logic.
A way things grow.
From leaf to galaxy,
signal becomes structure.
I’m learning to see it again.

AI in creativity isn’t a clean story yet.
In our recent conversation, @davidjonathanjohnston (@acceptandproceed ) referenced @heystudio , describing AI as “trapped between heaven and hell”— and that tension feels real.
We’re all learning in real time, and the real advantage won’t come from simply using AI, but from knowing how to direct it with intent.
Hear more from David at @w_international_network in London next week.
