Let’s rally for Toan!! @bobwith2oes I’m selling prints and shirts of Toan’s crook popover on my website. Shot early 2000s (link in bio). All profits go to his GoFundMe. Let’s help him out with medical and living expenses while he’s going through chemo. Stress takes a huge toll on health—let’s make the financial burden a little easier so he can focus on beating this dumbass cancer. Because fuck cancer forever. ❤️ #FuckCancer #CancerGotNoPop

Very stoked on the new Closer mag! Made this collage of @ishodwair for fun a couple months ago. Originally shot in Bali a few years back. Very cool to get some of that good ol’ print glory again! 😎 Thank you @closerskateboarding for the prime realestate. Wasn’t expecting that. Go get a copy! The quality is amazing. Thanks for doing all of this Jamie!

@starheadbody and I are selling prints and shirts of his kickflip wallride photo in Barcelona. I’ve seen people battle for tricks—but this one was on a whole other level. The heat, a cracked window, the pressure of “one more try” while cops watched, and the sheer willpower it took for him to land this was pretty dang incredible Go grab a shirt or print while they’re available—link in both of our bios for the next few days.

Still digging around in old folders. It’s been bittersweet—fun to revisit the “good old times,” but then you come across something that stings. I’m pretty sure this was the first day I met Ben—a random LA River ditch session. According to the photo timestamp, it was June of 2014. Right from the start, he was very kind and inviting towards me. Not all of the “pros” are/were. Egos, cliques, “rules of cool”—whatever. I’m sure I’ve been guilty of it was well….but Ben didn’t have those hang-ups. I’m really grateful I got to go on a few trips with him. Tours are weird—they kind of fast-forward friendships in a way. I wasn’t as close to him as others were, but he definitely left an impression on me, and I considered him my friend. He had a funny gravity around him that kinda pulled people in. He was always someone I wanted to be around when I got the chance. In my mind, everyone who’s gone now is still on the road somewhere, on some crazy tour, doing epic stuff. It’s probably a messed-up avoidance thing I do to process things, but I really wish it were true. If you’re not already following @thebenraemersfoundation , please do. Ben was a very special person, and the foundation does important work. We all miss you mate.

Around 2005/2006 was the transition from film to digital for most photographers…I think. I didn’t have a solid system for cataloging digital images on hard drives yet—just dumped cards into loosely labeled folders when they were full. Turns out, not the best way to archive! Ive spent the last few months correcting that. A couple of days ago, I stumbled across a folder from 2005 labeled Sam Bap, @sammybaptista Muska, @themuska Braydon @braydonsza —no context for tricks, spots, or what the photos were meant for. Finding it felt like opening a little time capsule. Mostly Muska warm-ups and a kick out but Sammy’s nollie backside flip still holds up! The whole day was pretty rad. Fun to revisit. Back in the olden days, camera sensors were terrible compared to today’s. You had to zoom in and use as much of the sensor as possible to get anything sharp enough to go to print with—or at least that’s what I thought. So yeah, I took that Muska tailslide photo without the landing! Hahaha, what an idiot! Or maybe I just Broached it!? Save it @nuge666 . 😐😤 Not a problem now. I just AI’ed the top and the landing! Apparently, the Brave New World has alligators in the landings. Be careful out there.

A couple of my favorite photos of @jtancowny One of my all-time favorite photographers is Gregory Crewdson. I first came across his work years ago on a Yo La Tengo album cover. Huge fan ever since. You can probably see the influence in this portrait 😎 Pretty sure it never got used for anything so thanks for letting me get weird Jamie!! Absolutely insane long ass Long Beach back side flip!
