I loved being inspired by the creative happenings at @thecommunitypottery based in @bricksbristol for my latest large scale illustration.
Here’s a peek into how I go about creating such a mural, from sketching and composition through to painting it onto a wall.
Please let me know what you think? Thank you
Thanks to my assistant @sarahdowlingart for painting help and tip top filming
A jolly mural for a jolly pub. Here’s a wrap-around building artwork, hand painted over the last two weeks by myself and my wonderful team for @lookagainnewhaven@jollynewhaven
The mural is called “Our Community” and celebrates the people of Newhaven and what brings them together, through a collection of vignette illustrations which you can discover as you look around the building.
Huge thanks to my brilliant assistants who are top tier mural painters and illustrators @bellagomezprints@davidjmcmillan@evergooood@paperwallssigns - please go follow them 👀
And, thanks to Jack & Flo for letting us paint the building, the contractors onsite for getting the render completed in time for us to paint, to the Look Again festival team for their support and to all the lovely people who stopped by to chat with us 🙌
Officially launching today, here it is, my new #mural @cabotcircus titled ‘A Cracking Day Out In Bristol’. It’s been created in partnership with animation studio @aardmananimations and Europe’s largest street art festival, @upfest
📍You can find this whooper (11.5m x 16m) in Quakers Lane (Quakers Friers).
The mural celebrates 🎉 the #creativity of #Bristol and features many of #Aardman’s most beloved characters as well as local landmarks. There’s also a nod to the amazing charity @thegrandappeal with the children’s hospital sculpture.
Continuing the celebrations, look out for art-inspired workshops @priorshopbristol in Quakers Friers throughout half-term, including clay model-making, mural workshops and some sessions featuring designer @lorna_leigh_designs and myself.
🎨 Thanks to @lorna_leigh_designs as the mastermind behind the original design layout and to my fabulous team of assistants @davidjmcmillan@jessknights_creative@sarahdowlingart@tanithgould
Also, thanks to @tomcat.3d who fabricated the ‘Made in’ letters.

Flour House has arrived at North Street 🌼
This may just be our new favourite cafe in the local area 😍
Calm vibes, incredible coffee, chilled music, great energy from friendly staff, a fab selection of cakes on the counter and a freshly cooked brunch menu - what’s not to love?! 💜
Also - how gorgeous is the mural painted by the uber talented @davebainuk 💟

There’s many tools to use when drawing a mural on a wall. I love using chalk as it’s easy to correct and is absorbed into the paint, when painted over.
Other options include:
> Paint pens (if worried about rain)
> pencil (smooth walls)
> spray
What’s your favourite tool to use?
Let me know in the comments 🙌
This snippet is from my latest mural for @weareflourhouse opening this weekend on North Street, Bristol
With the sunshine comes this fresh new mural for @weareflourhouse who have moved to the bustling North Street, in south Bristol. Such a pleasure working with their friendly team 😍
Thanks to my mural painting pal @davidjmcmillan for helping paint this with me - go give him a follow and check out his incredible work 🙌
The brush cam is back! ☀️
Finally the sun broke through the grey clouds earlier this week! Enough to shimmy up some scaffolding and paint something special for @weareflourhouse 👀
Big love ❤️ for the square @zibrapainting brush - a favourite, especially for textured walls
Here’s how I painted a mural on a corrugated surface of a slender-snouted crocodile at @bristolzooproject - in their newly opened African Forest area.
It was a challenging but rewarding job to get the fore-shortening perspective correct in relation to the stunning wood-carved head.
And, also to create a design that was simple, playful and sat effectively on the wavy metal surface.
The new area is now open and not only looks incredible but is also an amazing environment for its new residents 🐊🦍🐠🦜
Our new stall at Windmill Hill Market has been brought to life by local artist Dave Bain. A painter, illustrator and muralist, Dave creates joyful, abstract work full of colour and creative energy. 🎨
Using shapes and shades of pink, he’s painted a bold and playful design, capturing the spirit of the farm and the market.
Over the next year, the stall will host a different local creative each month — completely free of charge — supporting the amazing artists and makers in our city 💖
