Some sessions leave you with a dopamine hit that goes for days. Tracking beds for @the.aster.icks over the last couple weeks is definitely one of those times. A classic “wait, I get paid for this??” situation. Absolutely beautiful people, great music- I can’t thank @daph.tone enough for trusting me and my space with this critical part of the creation. Absolutely cannot wait to hear the final product. I think y’all are gonna love it as much as I do.

Friends ✨Next week I am performing my first Guelph show as DAPH, my solo electronic project. Synths and drum machines and vocals. I’m really proud of this music. Friday March 13th. It’s been a long journey for me to get here. I started this direction in the pandemic, and a week before I played my first show in KW with @eveparkerfinley & @ahorsenamedfridayy , my father died. I still played the show and it went really well, but the project took a back seat for a few years. This is some of the best music I have ever created. It would mean a ton if you could come out and celebrate life and dance with us. The show is part of the incredible @frequencies_ series. I’m joined by KERUB @kerubbyvi , chi @theres.a.riot.goin.on , and @bodywaltzing , plus @sleddofficial will be doing live visuals! We’re at a “secret” venue here in Guelph, and it will be the best house party ever. If you plan on coming, please buy a ticket in advance as there is limited capacity, and let me know so I can expect your beautiful face, thank you!! Ticket link in my bio 🙏 - Daph

Killer songs created by a talented and hard working cohort at @noblestreetstudios for @songwriterscanada Pro Song Works camp. An epic ending to an epic weekend with a warm and generous exchange with Bob Ezrin, who answered questions and shared ideas, advice and stories. Thank you @factorcanada and the incredibly altruistic and supportive folks at S.A.C. @arunchaturvedi and @natwurst . Songs are medicine. And the world needs our medicine. @scharliinaa @_adam_bianchi_ @daph.tone @askaboutsewa @its_paigeo @maiadaviesmusic @1goldstripes @estyr_143 You were missed @noah.malcolm - get well soon! #songwriters #producerlife #canadiansongwriters

Check out the recap from our first Polaris Festival Salon yesterday (video music by @erincorbettmusic – recorded onsite). Several artists created live bangers on modular synths while sharing wisdom with enraptured musicians. Truly one for the books! Thanks to Katie Stelmanis (@austra ), Dr. Casey Mecija (@caseymecija ), Palestinian Bakeshop, @heidi_wy_chan (Heidi Chan), @koreatownacid (Korea Town Acid), @erincorbettmusic (Erin Corbett), Aida Khorsandi, @daph.tone (DAPH), @relabtmu (Responsive Ecologies Lab), and Designing Sound Futures (DSF) for making Patchwork: Modular Worldmaking unforgettable. Special thanks to Erin Corbett for letting us use the track they created onsite as this video’s soundtrack. Event Details & Presenter Bios
Patchwork: Modular Worldmaking
Sun, Sept 7, 2025 | 1 PM Patchwork is a hands-on workshop series organized by Katie Stelmanis (Austra – past Polaris nominee). It creates an unintimidating space for learning modular synthesis. While synth communities are often dominated by white cis-masculine norms, Patchwork centres women, 2SLGBTQ+, and/or racialized people, with or without prior experience in noise-making electronics.
Heidi Chan: Canadian musician, composer, and researcher. Plays bamboo flutes, percussion, synth; member of ensemble ten ten; teaches at TMU & Humber; researches early digital sampling. Korea Town Acid: Seoul-born, Toronto-based producer, DJ, and educator. Creates genre-fluid soundscapes blending hip-hop, breakbeat, jungle, and cinematic textures. Erin Corbett: Musician, animator, and game designer. Combines modular synthesis with acoustic/electric instruments to build improvised soundscapes exploring alienation, queer euphoria, and decay. Fifth album out 2025. Aida Khorsandi: Composer-performer, synthesist, and researcher. Embraces unpredictability and decolonizing hierarchies, using displaced sound objects and granular gestures to create shifting sonic landscapes of experimental ambient noise. Daphne Zoe Dahlia / DAPH (She/Her): Performer, composer, and producer with 20+ years’ experience. Founder of Copper Sound studio. Creates queer-centred electronic music blending synth pop, house, hip-hop, and darkwave.

New release! 💡 Crisp Air is a murky ambient techno plod, nimbly stepping through muck and haze on a lightweight bass drum and crisp arp. The track was created from distorted bits of synth improvisations strung together around a beat that builds ever-thicker. Alex constructed the frame with drums, bass and textural percussion made from field recordings, at which point @daph.tone stepped in to add the epic building lead with a crisp Moog tone. The concept and title were inspired by the realm of sci-fi technologies, such as gene-editing, slowly coming onto the realm of human possibility. I'm celebrating the release with a live set @madameclaude.berlin Friday Nov. 8 You can find Crisp Air on @thisismyxt @bandcamp and anywhere you listen to music. Link to streams and downloads in bio. #ambient #techno #berlin
