My new record Chin Up Buttercup comes out November 14th and the first single Math Equation is out today!
Buttercup is my emotional-demon alter-ego. She’s always on the brink of some kind of meltdown but has gotten really good at putting on a brave face, just like the one in the photo.
I’m excited to share more of her world with you in the coming months. In the mean time, Chin Up Buttercup is available for pre-order and she would really love it if you ordered one ;)

Chin Up Buttercup is available now for pre-order in a limited-edition orange vinyl, plain black and also on CD. The vinyl features a big A2 poster you can put on your wall! It’s printed using Pantone Process Blue C which isn’t really possible to capture in a digital redering but in your hands it will be very vibrant.
The record was co-produced by me and Kieran Adams (@k_______i_______k_______i ) and features a few co-writes with Kieran, @ppatrickholland and @seanicholasavage .
It was mixed in London by @martasalogni and Mastered in New York by @heba_kadry@lamiakaric took all the photos except the back cover photo which was taken by @tessroby . @lukamues made the black garment and styled all but the crying photos. @fritzenwanker did the hair and makeup, assisted by @becknaylor . @y.l.v.a.n.o.r.l.i.n was the art director.
The visuals, photos and graphic, were creative directed by @neuemartin who is very good at being bossy on set.

Austra returns to Pride Toronto hot off a world tour and a beloved album in Chin Up Buttercup, as part of Closing Night on Sunday June 28 at TD Main Stage!
Austra is a Canadian composer, electronic producer and singer best known for her ethereal voice and genre-blending sound. Over the past decade and a half she’s released four albums with the renowned indie label Domino Records and has played sold out shows from Brazil to Japan to Warsaw and beyond. Her most recent album, Chin Up Buttercup, has been described as “a grief record you can dance to.” It’s a narrative about the pressure one feels to keep functioning normally through disastrous circumstances, and has garnered some of the best reviews of her career!
The second instalment of the CUB remix series is out now and is a rework by the Utah-based producer @notegofear
I got really into his music a few years ago cuz recalls some of the best dnb / trance of the late 90s but also sounds very new. I actually have a playlist of his music and similar that I listen to when I’m stressed out - the harder the better imo. I find it very calming 😇
I couldn’t find much about Egofear online but reached out kind of randomly to ask if he’d be down to try something with fallen cloud, my fav song from chin up. He agreed ☺️ I was expecting the breakbeats but I didn’t expect a total rework of the chord progressions which took the song into a new realm of gorgeous melancholy that brought me to tears the first time I heard it. To me, this new version of fallen cloud is just as considered as the original and I am honoured and proud it exists .. adding it to my stress playlist now ..

Thrilled to announce supports for my upcoming Europe tour ~~~ @elsas_hi , @tiberius__b , @laura_m_groves and @tessroby will be joining us at select shows across the continent. I will be bringing a trusty band of @charwuar on bass and @germaxipad on drums and I think we are going to have a very good time!
I love flowers. I grow so many different varieties now that are native to Ontario and each one brings something special and unique to my garden. Nothing makes me happier than being outside and caring for them. Their endless diversity reminds me of all the artists I know and love, each one bringing something special and unique into my life, none more important than the other.

North American tour starts in less than 2 weeks!
A few important updates:
We added a 2nd show in New York so if you didn’t get tickets to the first one, now is your chance.
We upgraded the venue in Vancouver - original tickets will be honoured
Toronto and Montreal are now sold out, Ottawa is very close!
I am thrilled to be joined by @colinself on the west coast, @pynesound on the Canadian dates (east coast), and @eejungmi in toronto! The rest of the tour will feature some great local supports.
