Really excited to finally share the project I worked on with @jasonbrugesstudio , commissioned by the newly opened @museumofthefuture .
The Centre is an inhabitable artwork that uses water, sound, light and vibration to offer an immediate, visceral experience inspired by historic ritual.
Nicknamed ‘the Temple of Transcendence’ throughout much of the working process, the inspiration for the score came from various spiritual practices - from whirling dervishes Sufi dancing to Russian Orthodox basso profundo singing, to Zen and Tibetan Buddhist meditation and South American shamanic ceremonies. The score was composed in just intonation and combined with LFO triggered water animations, resulting in an artwork which is representative of the historic, sacred connection between humans and nature.
The Centre encourages a moment of stillness. It asks if by recentring and looking inwards, we can in turn be more open and personally connected to those around us.
