Kjetil Knutsen’s side are making history this term as the northernmost team to appear in the Champions League proper. Never before has the competition ventured inside the Arctic Circle, but that’s where the Norwegian champions reside, their home town of Bodø located on a peninsula over 800km north of the capital, Oslo. Think cold, windy and dark, with zero hours of sunlight in December, a mean daily minimum temperature of -3.2C in February and a chilly all-time record low of -18.5C.   That might explain why Bodø’s population is just 43,000, smaller than the capacity of many Champions League grounds – indeed, Bodø/Glimt’s own Aspmyra Stadion holds just over 8,000. For Sjøvold, such “extreme” conditions offer them a genuine home advantage, but that’s not all the place has to offer... #uclfeeling #uefachampionsleague #bodø #bodøglimt #champi̇onsleague

A series for @11freunde Me and the editor Tim made a story on the cup winning Bodø Glimt team from 1975. The cup win made the footballing hierarchy on south of Norway take notice of the quality of teams in the north of the country and ushered in a new era of Norwegian football. : : : #norway #arcticnorway #editorialphotography #exploretocreate #explore #fujigfx #bodøglimt

My solo exhibition Bodø City Museum opens on Saturday 14th June! The exhibition First Strike City takes as its point of departure the city of Bodø, Norway—a place once central to the defence of NATO’s northern flank. Until its closure in 2022, Bodø served as the headquarters of Norway’s Air Force, playing a critical role in NATO operations throughout the Cold War. Its strategic position inside the Arctic region made it a linchpin of Western defence strategy—and now, with the resurgence of geopolitical tension and renewed Russian aggression, its relevance has returned with urgency. By 2025, Bodø and the north of Norway reemerged as a key player in Europe’s defence landscape, named as the site for NATO’s new Combined Air Operations Centre. Once again, Bodø has become a “first strike city”—a potential frontline in the evolving theatre of hybrid warfare, where threats blend cyber, disinformation, and conventional military power. Across Europe, a substantial number of NATO military installations in Europe are situated in close proximity to large civilian populations. This exhibition invites visitors to confront a pressing question: Is the proximity of military infrastructure to urban life a necessary sacrifice for national security? Through photography, immersive soundscapes, and moving image, First Strike City casts light on the hidden dynamics of global power struggles—played out not in open battlefields, but in data centres, information streams and populated areas—where entire populations become both shield and target. In an age where security and sovereignty are increasingly intertwined with vulnerability and exposure, this exhibition asks: What is the cost of secure sovereign borders? And who bears them?

@kvitnes.gaard for @qantas Airlines. Kvitnes Gård is the jewel in the culinary crown of Nordland county, run by local Halvar Ellingsen on a remote part of Vesterålen “A meal at Kvitnes does not begin when it is prepared in the kitchen. It takes years of preparation - from good compost, nutritious soil, the right feed, the right weather conditions and gentle harvesting and slaughter” : : : #norway #arcticnorway #editorialphotography #lofoten #landscape #exploretocreate #explore #fujigfx
