This week we opened the pop up exhibition Art in the Village, in Buckhead Village. Featuring the monumental sculpture K.3, 2007 by Frank Stella which has been tucked away for almost 20 years, the show celebrates Stella along with Atlanta artists whose work takes inspiration from his legacy. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. It truly took a village! Huge thanks to @micaelarobinson for sharing the journey with me. And thank you @jamestown.lp for their support in sharing this amazing artwork with the Atlanta community.
The exhibition will run through the end of the year.

This is #artinthevillage, Buckhead Village that is. It's a new gallery in a super space at the corner of Peachtree and Buckhead Ave. through February I think. By @hopecohnprojects with a giant Frank Stella plus very fine work by 21 mostly local artists. Pay to park but it's not expensive.
Ever wondered what it takes to install a 600-pound Frank Stella? Atlanta just found out!
art in the village opened last night in Atlanta, bringing Frank Stella’s monumental sculpture K.3 (Large Version) back into public view for the first time in nearly two decades. Originally purchased in 2007 for the development of the Streets of Buckhead (now Buckhead Village), the sculpture was displayed for only a few hours at the groundbreaking ceremony, with Stella himself present. After being acquired by Jamestown LP in 2019, it has now returned to honor the artist following his recent passing.
Reinstalling K.3 just steps from where it first appeared was a massive undertaking. The 600-pound, 12-foot-tall work had to be transported in the middle of the night, maneuvered through a six-foot doorway, and mounted on a specially engineered wall that allows it to “float” above the ground.
Inspired by the lively rhythms of Scarlatti’s sonatas, the sculpture bursts into space with bold geometry, silver tubing, and a floating polyhedron that blurs the boundaries between painting, relief, and sculpture.
Shown alongside Stella is a group of Atlanta artists whose works highlight the city’s creativity and the galleries that support them. Their experimentation, process-driven approaches, and vibrant use of color resonate beautifully with Stella’s legacy, creating a dialogue between a modern master and the artists shaping Atlanta’s contemporary art scene today.
This exhibition is organized and curated by Hope Cohn, Stella’s longtime studio manager, and Micaela Robinson of Micaela Elle Art Advisory.
