Dane takes us #BehindTheCounter at Channel Islands Surfboards in Carpinteria, CA. Built on heritage and shaped by craftsmanship, this legendary shop remains a cornerstone of surf culture.
Chumash Community youth surfboard give away happened! Thank you to all folks who donated and @positivevibewarriors@tannergud@danedamus@patrickgud@hobiesurfshop
As you see with the Chumash, it takes a community to get us back reunited with the water and one with our mother ocean.
It was quite a project to get boards in the hands of youth in the Indigenous territories of Michoacan MX, San Diego, Ventura/Santa Barbara and Washington. Wow what a great distribution of stoke !! Thank you to all who
Helped @nativelikewater spread the love with over 120 surfboards. A feeling so special remembering how it felt wanting a surfboard so bad as a kid . Dream on, surf on , stoke on !!
P.S. we will still
Accept water tight good condition grom size boards 6 ft and under. DM us photo credit to: Eric Isaacs @emiphoto326
On location for @abyssewatermen this winter, for their new Bunker boardshorts 🌠🌠đźŚ
No shortage of color on board, just the way I like it. Art by the masterful @starmanair 🙌

@danedamus style is shaped by more than the present moment, it carries the rhythm of those who came before him. A lineage of surfing expressed through ease, intuition, and flow.
On any craft, in any condition, he channels surfing history into something entirely his own.
Our “Bunker” boardshort honors the past with intention towards the future.

Dane Gudauskas and I tried to line up and shoot for almost two years.
Every time we got close — something missed.
Flights crossing.
Swells not showing.
Wind shutting it off before we even had a chance.
Then out of nowhere, right as a run of swell starts
a text from Dane:
“You around — let’s shoot.”
And just like that… a week of waves and shooting.
That’s how it goes.
Stop trying so hard - it happens.
Getting the shot can be tough.
Getting Dane smiling… not so much
Dane riding:
• CI Rocket Wide - 5’8” × 19 1/4” × 2 7/16” (airbrush by STARMAN @starmanair )
• CI G Skate — 5’6” × 19 1/4” × 2 1/2”
Dane has always been one of my favorite surfers.
There’s a cool aesthetic to everything he does — in and out of the water.
The ’70s airbrush, the completeness of each maneuver, his unique flair he throws on every turn, and that famous abundance of stoke.
The Gudauskas brothers were always a bit of a mystery to me being from down south.
When Dane moved up to the 805, I got to really see his surfing firsthand.
One of the reasons I like shooting in 805 —
the number of top-five surfers who choose not to be on tour easily exceeds five.
All photos shot over one week.
Conditions ranged from fun to excellent.
