The Dance Hub SA board have made the difficult decision to bring the organisation to a close. We recognize the impact this closure has on the dance community in South Australia. Many will be aware of the significant challenges facing the organisation since 2022. Although we have had recent project grant success it is not sustainable for us to continue without organisational funding or premises.
We are hopeful that whatever comes next for independent dance in SA will continue to provide for artistic development, experimentation and creation, and support artists to take risks, explore new ideas, and create a connected community.
Thank you to Founder and Patron Leigh Warren, Former Artistic Director Amanda Phillips, Former Executive Director Jo Jacobs, Interim caretaker Alison Currie, Choreolab24 Facilitator Cinzia Schincariol, Chair Kylie Kerrigan, the current and previous board members, and to all of the artists, dancers, choreographers, collaborators, mentors, supporters and followers!

SENTIMENTS
an anthropological deep dive into the concept of 'Queer Heartbreak’
By Amelia Watson
Dancers: Felicity Boyd, Rhianna Dunaiski, Beth Mooney.
Part of Choreolab24
Huge congratulations Amelia, Felicity, Rhianna and Beth for such sensitive and brave work.
Responses from showing guests: ' Rejecting the heteronormative gaze. Queer bodies expressing pain/pleasure in unique, nuanced ways in contrasts to the 'sexy' nude wrestling image. Dip me in honey and feed me to the lesbians! Beautiful and dusturbing. Unsettling and compelling' 'powerful and heartbreaking final image, covering up and hiding queer love. Wonderful, tragic'

And that's a wrap for Choreolab24!
Congratulations to the 4 choreographers: Kenneth Johnson, Caroline de Wan, Fern Mines and Amelia Watson and to the 4 dancers: Felicity Boyd, Rhianna Dunaiski, Beth Mooney, Jazzy Williamson-Gray
Choreolab24 saw 4 emerging choreographers and 4 emerging dancers working alongside and together over a 3 weeks process to foster the beginning of 4 new works.
The project was facilitated by Cinzia Schincariol who worked collaboratively with the artists in creating a nurturing and fertile space to allow a deep dive in the proposed projects. On the first day Uncle Mickey offered a smoking ceremony and a Welcome to Country for all involved at the Lion Arts Studio. Additional practitioners were invited over the weeks to offer insights on specific themes that were relevant to the artists projects and practice: Jaye Haye, Sally Chance, Eduardo Sacco Caprotti, Dianne Reid and Kim Kerze.
The project culminated with a private showing at Nexus Arts where Kenny, Caroline, Fern and Amelia presented their findings, their ideas, movement sections danced by Felicity, Rhianna, Beth and Jazzy and asked some specific questions to invited guests. The evening was opened by Robert Taylor who offered a warm Welcome to Country to all present.
Congratulations to the cohort for such powerful and diverse works, for venturing in very different movement languages and for the collaborative and supportive space you have been able to create for each other.
We can't wait to see what comes next from these talented artists. Choreolab24 was funded by Arts SA, City of Adelaide and Dance Hub SA, and supported by ADT, AC Arts, Restless Dance Theatre and Nexus Arts and wouldn't have been possible without the tireless work of Alison Currie.
