Very excited to welcome @juliakeelin , chef and owner of @henrietta_red and @judith.tavern in Nashville and Sewanee, TN, as the next guest chef in our Carte Blanche series on Wednesday, June 3rd.
@daisynanryan and Julia are coming up on nearly 20 years of friendship, having first met at @theculinaryinstituteofamerica before continuing to work together at @perseny and @havenskitchen in New York. They both have been awarded @foodandwine Best New Chefs and @beardfoundation nominated.
As you can probably tell from the photos, the two of them tend to have a pretty great time together, and this dinner will be a celebration of exactly that — a look back at their time cooking in New York alongside a reflection of the restaurants and cooking they each have today. Julia will also be bringing some highlights and staples from Tennessee and the South, so y’all are in for a treat.
Dinner will feature a multi course menu with an optional wine pairing curated by @emilylynnblackman . Reservations are now live on @opentable .
During our chat with @daisynanryan , she reflected on her experience as a chef and a mom and how that has impacted the way she runs her kitchen.
"Restaurants are hard and the day to day can feel repetitive and straining so it's important to stop and pay attention to how wonderful, interesting or valuable all the little pieces of what we do are." - Chef Daisy Ryan

Happy Birthday to the Queen @emilylynnblackman . The phrase “Emily can do it” is the most spoken sentence in my household. And… it’s true, you can do it all. You’re the friend, partner, sister, wine wench, meat grinder, big punisher, and best time, we love you more than anything. So lucky you’re our family. Can’t wait for 80. We ride or die. And while “you’re not for everyone”… you’re definitely for me!
Honored and excited to have @daisynanryan named one of the five nominees for this year’s @beardfoundation for Best Chef: California.
Recognition like this may carry one name, but it is never about one person. It reflects our team that shows up every single day with care, consistency, and intention to create what Bell’s has become. We are incredibly proud of the people and community who make this place what it is, and grateful to be able to do it together in a town that continues to support us in ways we do not take for granted.
It is a true privilege to be considered alongside so many incredible chefs across this amazing state, @dcberan , @hcheneychef , @uhkwang , @_a.hsu , @cooper_sarah_jane - to be included in this group is both humbling and inspiring.
See you in Chicago!

Velvety, comforting risotto is the perfect cold weather dish. This recipe by Made In customer and chef of Michelin-starred Bell's Daisy Ryan reminisces on warmer days with a tomato jam that flavors the whole dish. It gets topped with a rich and savory whipped cream flavored with saffron and Parmesan. For a dish like risotto that requires patient stirring to reach the desired texture, a stainless steel saucier with it's curved walls and smooth, rounded bottom makes all the difference.
