I’m currently on tour but have a 2 week break, so I wanted to do some work in the meantime. Yesterday I did some tech work for @reneerapp 🔥. I’m usually used to doing things on a proper stage but sometimes you’ll get gigs in places where you have to just make it work, and that’s what we did! Quick story! The first time I seen Doechii was in March 2023 at YouTube Theatre for the Billboard Women Awards. I was doing my audio thing on stage helping out all the artists and bands. By that time, I’ve worked with some big names already but something was different about this particular artist. She came in with barely any team, so she had to tell each department (lighting , video, and audio), exactly what she wanted and how she wanted it. Right away I noticed her VISION. I’ve never seen someone on stage so confident in knowing what exactly they wanted, I was shocked. Not only did she have vision, but she was able to articulate and communicate very well to everyone she needed to. I’m used to seeing a creative director or manager handling that for the artist. The show was dope! She killed it and of course took home the rising star award. I immediately knew that night she was gonna be HUGEEE in the future. You can ask my friends, I told everybody they were going to know her name very soon. (I thank God for my own vision too because I don’t be wrong yo! lol) Fast forward to the end of 2023, I get called to audio tech for Doja on her tour and found out Doechii was opening up for her. I over heard Doe needed someone to volunteer as a monitor engineer, so I quickly called who I needed to at my company to throw myself in (s/o to Sean Sturge). I wanted the extra work, I wanted the extra challenge, especially for someone who is hungry for success. The tour started and I seen that same confidence again except it was even more this time. This go around I told people she is soon to be one of the best artist in the world! Tour went great and I was excited I got that experience under my belt. Fast forward to Jan 2025, I’m in Thailand and I get a call asking if I can engineer for Doechii’s Grammy performance. I went back to LA for rehearsals and the whole team made history on Grammys day. I’m still on a high from that day 🙌🏾. Thank you God ALWAYS , thank you @clairglobal and thank you @doechii . Glad I got to hand off the mics in my hometown to every LA rapper that came out to perform last night. Couldn’t do it without some help from my fellow techs, they know who they are! Seeing people like @tommytheclown , @mustard @dopeitsdom Dom Kennedy ,TDE , etc made me really feel back at home and reminded me of some parts of my childhood. MANN, 80 shows complete in total with the goat, some other goats, and a goat crew. I met some good hard working people on this one. I remember when we started this thing last year and people didn’t think we could get the job done due to the amount of work that had to go into it. But when you got a crew like this, anything is obviously possible💯. On another note, it was crazy to end the tour in Newark,NJ because I remember moving here at 18 to start my adult journey. At some point I had 2 jobs PLUS school, taking the bus everywhere in the snow, barely surviving, it was rough. At some point I was working so hard that I fell asleep behind the wheel of my brand new car and totaled it right before I was supposed to drive to Florida for my next life adventure. I should’ve lost my life, but God had more plans (purpose) for me🙏🏾. I felt so lost out here but without those hard Jersey times I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now. Thank you God for getting me to this moment , thanks for guiding me here and wherever you’re taking me next. Never knew my purpose of life more than I know it now so I’m gonna always be smiling cause I know where I’m headed 🙏🏾. Did my last gig of 2023 with some good people and I’m glad to do it where it happened…Watts, CA (Nickerson Gardens). It was a charity event for the kids thrown by TOP of TDE and I was home just in time to do it. Mixed a few artist from TDE and some other LA artists🙏🏾, it was a dope experience. Neva knew I’d be back in Watts giving back the best way I can which is providing music for people.
