Read below for how I made these visuals Antinodal Dub is the last track of Sinner's Thesis and one of my favorite tracks. The visuals are an attempt to recreate a common sighting in my DMT visions - a sentient morphing structure or ribbons that shift and change in a hyperdimensional dance. I made them using a hybrid workflow. I created a 3D geometry in touchdesigner comprising a zig zag ribbon that is instanced into a circular structure. The shape of the zigzags is affected by one of the track stems, and the rotation of the structure and the spacing along the Z axis is affected by one of the other stems. The kick and snare affect the overall rotation of the camera and lighting. The ribbons are textured with an instance of milkdrop (running via nestdrop) that is responding to the beat. The structure is then luma keyed into a digital feedback loop to create some of the hyperdimensionality, then the output of the feedback loop is sent out into my analog video rig. It's run through a couple of video processors and an analog feedback loop, then back into touchdesigner via a capture card. The analog feed is composited behind the geometry and spouted into OBS. I ran through several takes of the track, tweaking the analog and digital controls to find sweetspots and bring some kind of order to the chaos, then edited the takes together in after effects, selecting the take that best fit the audio at each section of the song. All this was done in a single day, including the edit, to stop myself from becoming a perfectionist and never finishing the videos.
