April’s Top 5🧚🏼♂️🌟🌂🤸🏼♀️🍸
1. Carla’s Song by Harry Styles — play this song super loud, I think that’s the best way to do it.
2. Stellate by Samia — great song to scream on the highway
3. Triptych by Samia — specifically these opening lines wow
4. Been slowly getting really into Dove Ellis lately … this song (titled Love Is) has been stuck in my head for a long time.
5. Rein Me In by Olivia Dean & Sam Fender — I mean … insane. The way these specific lyrics are displayed (at least on Apple Music) feels incredibly important to me.
April was also #NationalPoetryMonth, so there were plenty of wonderful words & sentiments experienced live from the hearts of talented poets I saw in real life, too. A lot of good words.
Happy birthday to my youngest brother, Charlie. 16 years of him completing us all. He doesn’t know it, but he’s in all of my favorite stories. Watch out for the potholes, Little Yee!!
April is National Poetry Month! Here’s how it went in Lansing🌟
Annual MSU Museum Slam. Might be one of my favorite events ever. @msumuseum thanks for being such a wonderful host. Honored as always to share the stage with a fabulous line up.
RJ Walker feature! @dollarcompliments you are something special. Loved this feature & workshop.
Native Child Youth Slam! @theoriginalsaki spent months planning this event to support local poets and honor the beautiful poet Native Child Brown, and it was so lovely. 7 local high school poets competed in a 3 round slam … and I cried. So fun to talk about doing poetry in college, share a piece, and keep track of the (very close) scores!
The 517 Poetry Room’s monthly open mic: ‘Dunk Contest.’ Always a great way to end a month, especially #napowrimo. Lansing, I just love you! @the517poetryroom@therobintheatre
In addition to these events, I shared some work I’m really proud of — on this page, TikTok, and (more recently) over on Substack. Peace & love! Best month ever!

At the start of every month, I write down some intentions in this blue notebook of mine. I rarely reread the old pages, but found myself doing it the other night … and wanted to lend some good energy to anyone who needs it for the rest of April. 🌟
Also the painting of the dragonfly is not mine it is very much from Pinterest. Love 2 you!
