Perfumed gloves from the 16th century (sometimes also used for poisoning?)
Popularized by Catherine de’ Medici in French courts to mask unpleasant smells of the time period.
Most commonly scented with herbs, spices, woods, and flowers such as jasmine, violet, iris, and orange blossom. (But also once rumored that Queen Catherine de Medici of France gifted a pair of gloves scented and laced with poison resulting in the sudden death of her enemy, Jeanne d'Albert.)

From Nez
1+1: One perfumer, one artist—one magazine, one fragrance. The third addition to the ongoing project pairs perfumer Mathilde Bijaoui with artist and filmmaker Marjane Satrapi (best known for her groundbreaking graphic novel Persepolis and its subsequent film adaptation). The result of their collaboration is Ambre à Lèvres, inspired by the scent of Satrapi's great aunt's lipstick.
HOLLOW BOOK
With drawers used to hide poison. On the back cover it has a woodcut depicting a human skeleton, from the book of Andreas Vesalius' “De Humani Corporis Fabrica" (Fabric of the Human Body), Basel, 1543. On the glass bottle, a Latin inscription: «STATUT UM EST HOMINIBUS SEMEI MORI. » (It is well established that men once die).
