Following a day of tasting hot sauce, we were faced with the wine menu at @levanlondon , wanting a bottle that would remedy/refresh our palates while suiting the beginning of a warm evening.
Le Feif Seigneur ~ @domaine_st_vincent
🍇 Melon de Bourgogne
📍 Loire
🗓️ 2023
It was absolutely the right bottle and it was absolutely the right venue. Great wine, great welcome.
A highlight of the weekend.

#Peckham
While the returning rain is a bit of a downer, it does prompt comfort foods (bolognese) and a red wine, which was a great excuse to open this Baby Bandito.

🍇 Carignan
📍 South Africa

Vigorous and totally washed in pomegranate. Acid to complement the fat. I could have chilled it but will save that for a sunnier day.
🍝🌧️🍷
Roccalini Barbaresco ~ Cascina Roccalini
🍇 Nebbiolo
📍 Piemonte
🗓️ 2021
Featured as a part of @ewwines 20th Year Celebration tasting, this was a genuinely sublime experience.
This is one of those wholly considered wines, with Paolo Veglio understanding that the investment of care in each step of the grape growing/winemaking journey, no matter how much time a process may take, produces an unrivalled complexity and formidable quality.
You get this depth from the aromas alone. Right away. And then, at every step of the glass and on the palate, there’s simply so much going on. Red fruits, slightly darker berries, culinary spice, a little dried herb, purple flora, and with the early signs of age now starting to appear, all without overstatement and in total elegance.
Very seriously great wine.

Bringing a Pét-Nat to the beach and drinking in twenty degrees of sunshine is a ceremony that makes it feel like summer is already here.

Raising a glass to my successful WSET examination results, pouring sparkling sake from @akashitaisake .
Next up, the WSET Educator’s Training Programme.
A huge Thank You to @ewwines for supporting my education.

A selection of photographs from a single roll of 35mm film that I’ve had loaded in my camera since October.
Seeing these, I’m kicking myself for not taking more!

L’Insolite ~ @domaine_des_roches_neuves
🍇 ~ Chenin Blanc
📍~ Loire
🗓️ ~ 2024
As the days get sunnier, I more readily reach for the white wines on my shelf, and I’ve been exceptionally keen to reach for this one.
@ewwines
☀️
We toured California yesterday, tasting some truly stunning wines, including a Corison 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon!
But, when asked which bottle was the highlight, my feelings went toward this @jolielaidewines Pinot Gris.
In the wake of this week’s brilliant weather, I was readily keen for an elegant, refreshing glass, and this absolutely delivers the graceful best of the Golden State’s sunshine.
Pink(ish), orange(ish). A subtle score of tieguanyin and a chorus of fruits.
Find a bottle this summer. Though, keep in mind, different artists for different vintages ~ looks may vary. Certain to be on the shelf at @ewwines .

Celebrating the conclusion of another WSET chapter by raising a glass of sparkling pink ✨
Black Ewe ~ @trevibbanmill_vineyard
🍇 Dornfelder
📍 Cornwall
🗓️ NV
Given how often I’ve had a spittoon in hand recently, it’s become a small pleasure to actually drink what’s in the glass… and this is a wine of pure strawberry cheesecake, totally rich with raspberries, and a bottle that accomplishes the essential ‘pink bubble’ balance elegance and fun.
A gem of the Cornish scene.
A huge Thank You to @ewwines for the wine and for supporting my continued wine education 🙏🏻
Now, to the next chapter…
🍷
*Dornfelder has bags of phenolics but it’s absolutely my kitchen lighting helping this to look darker than it actually is
Nat’s back from her trip, which means pouring a glass of Georgian amber wine.
KISI ~ @pheasants_tears
🍇 Kisi
📍 Kakheti
🗓️ 2023
Kisi is one of those grapes that faced extinction, all but disappearing in the 20th century, before being brought back (along with many other indigenous grapes) by Georgian winemakers.
The brilliant @lisagranikmw refers to it as a ‘shy yielder’ and, interestingly, supposes that part of its international popularity might be due to the ease of its pronunciation.
Fingers crossed this is true, as it could mean Buza will earn its spotlight too.
