What happens when young people are given the chance to step onto a stage and tell a story together?
In our latest Members Spotlight, we spoke with @cssf_uk about the transformative power of creative education, access to the arts and why performance remains such a vital tool for confidence, communication and connection.
Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation helps young people across the UK engage with theatre and Shakespeare through inclusive, student-led performances and nationwide initiatives like the Shakespeare Schools Festival. They have been creating spaces where creativity, collaboration and self-expression can thrive regardless of background or experience, hosting everything from annual film festivals to standalone workshops - like the free technical theatre one they deliver with Criterion Theatre. The team work incredibly hard to reduce access barriers to the arts while highlighting the long-term value of creative education and cultural experiences.
The organisation's work is an important reminder that theatre is not just about performance, but also about building skills around belonging, confidence and creativity.

🎭️ Celebrating Shakespeare’s birthday at Bedelsford School
Bedelsford School have maintained their Coram Shakespeare Schools Gold Medal School Award in recognition of their participation in Shakespeare Schools Theatre Festival for over five consecutive years.
The festival is the world’s largest youth drama festival and aims to use the unique power of Shakespeare to transform lives.
Bedelsford students relish the opportunity to perform on a professional stage at @rosetheatrekingston in front of an audience of family, friends and members of our local community.
This year’s performance of Twelfth Night gave students the opportunity to express themselves and develop their independence skills.
Students work hard in rehearsals to ensure their lines are word perfect and delivered through their preferred communication method including AAC devices.
Members of the audience regularly feedback on how they enjoy the sensory nature of our performances which involve music, movement as well as the spoken word.
We are grateful for wonderful support of the creative arts therapy team, the Rose Theatre and the Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation who support the Bedelsford students to tread the boards.

So much drama! This year, a selection of year 5 and 6 pupils brilliantly presented an abridged rendition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the Questors Theatre, directed by Mrs Greenwood. The evening was a great success the girls thoroughly enjoyed displaying their work!
