Year 3 have been busy designing, making and evaluating their own couscous salads in DT this week! 🥗 They learnt key cooking skills, including food hygiene and safe chopping techniques, while exploring healthy food choices and ingredients from around the world. The best part? Creating their own delicious recipes - yum! 👩‍🍳🌍✨

@greenpeaceuk loved the leaflets that Year 5 created about keeping beaches clean, inspired by their English text, Flotsam.

Congratulations to Ayla in year 2 who has earned a Blue Peter Badge this week. She wrote a story and sent it into the show. They were clearly impressed as she was awarded a special badge. The badge means that Ayla can get free entry into lots of London attractions. Why don’t you have a go at earning one? /cbbc/joinin/about-blue- peter-badges

Nursery had a special delivery this week from the farm. The children were super surprised to find some very special eggs in an incubator. They talked together about what they thought would hatch from the eggs and the answers ranged from crocodiles to dinosaurs and even a pigeon! Nursery now are proud to announce the arrivals of 7 baby chicks!

As part of their learning in English this week, Year 2 visited the ‘Cosy Café’ this week —though many of the children joked it felt more like a ‘Chaotic Café’! There was lively entertainment, music and plenty of delicious food to enjoy. Thankfully, unlike in Mrs Wobble the Waitress, no one had jelly or a roast chicken dropped on their head, and they all agreed that’s something they’d definitely like to avoid! Inspired by their experience, Year 2 will now be writing their own persuasive restaurant reviews. I’m sure we’ll be seeing plenty of 5-star ratings!

On Wednesday 29th April, Nelson’s year 3/4 tennis team won this year’s Newham Tennis Competition at Langdon Academy. The team put in a lot of physical as well as tactical work to achieve this accomplishment. Another proud achievement. Well done, team!

We are incredibly proud of our young authors who have had their short stories published as part of the NVT MAT Literacy Festival. 📚 They thoroughly enjoyed attending the celebration event this afternoon, where they received a copy of the published book, listened to stories written by children from other MAT schools and enjoyed some snacks!

As part of their geography unit, year 4 visited the Lee Valley Regional Park this week. Children walked around the Lee Valley river and lake identifying the features, did some observational drawings and labelling before using binoculars to discover different wildlife by the lake in the discovery centre. They thoroughly enjoyed the visit and learnt lots of interesting facts about rivers.
