The Julian Schnabel Foundation and Villa Magdalena gallery are thrilled to announce “Milko Pavlov”, the Bulgarian-born, Berlin-based painter’s first solo exhibition in the United States. Opening on April 15, the show will be on view through May 14 at 360 West 11th St, New York, NY 10014 Through his naturalistic yet irreal abstract compositions Milko Pavlov is constructing a vision filled with spectacle and fleeting sights. The light’s reflection on a cliff, the remnants of a prehistoric man consumed by the earth, an ethereal giant entering a valley, frozen mountains. The undefined character of these pictures feel like records of places, where the presence of environments are in the process of forming as we discover them. Please join us next Wednesday April 15th from 5 - 8 pm for the opening of “Milko Pavlov” Milko Pavlov P.F 2125 МРП 2045 2023 Oil on canvas 94.49 x 78.74 inches (240 x 200 cm) Milko Pavlov P.F. 2132 MPП 2043 2026 Oil on canvas 94 1/2 x 76 3/4 inches (240 x 195 cm)

Garmendia’s interest in built environments and domestic structures has been consistent throughout his entire oeuvre. In Madrid during the early 90’s the artist developed a series of sculptures with found objects –mainly repurposed drawers and window frames. Exterior and interior views within a box format express Garmendia’s ingenious approach to the formal aspects of urban landscape. A point of departure where a plethora of images manifest themselves in a variety of ways. These works are indebted to a range of influences: Dada artists such as Hannah Höch, George Grosz; assemblages and collage works by Kurt Schwitters, Marcel Duchamp, and Joseph Cornell’s shadow boxes. “Alejandro Garmendia: El Ingenio Revolucionario II” will be on view through May 11 in Madrid at @villamagdalena33

Sila Candansayar, shows us a unique perspective on ”bodiness’, one in which mutant and artificial elements form part of organic corporeality. Working with wood, clay, porcelain, cardboard, blown glass and 3D printing, the artist’s notion of ’category mistakes’ is the underlying principle that guides her multimedia installations, formal syntax, and representational ambiguity. In Candansayar’s sculptural works and drawings we see a vocabulary of shapes informed by her visual interests in physics, geometry, and human anatomy: a sensibility partially informed by her father’s medical practice as a neuropsychiatric professor in Ankara, Turkey. The works’ dynamic methods of display and presentation also highlight the importance of the viewer’s experiential role. An invitation to a multiplicity of ways of seeing. Sila Candansayar’s “Colorless Green Ideas Sleep Furiously” was recently presented at this year’s edition of Arco Opening @feriaarco @villamagdalena33 Sila Candansayar (b. Ankara, 1997), Paris-based Turkish artist, graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2025. Recent solo exhibitions feature: Liber Pulveris, with Charlotte Simonnet (Galerie du Crous de Paris, París, 2025); Tenders (Cabinet Studiolo, Milán, 2023). Recent group shows include: My Way: Sturtevant , Chris Burden, Sila Candansayar, Jimmie Durham, Latifa Echakhch, Michel Journiac, Jannis Kounellis, Philippe Meste, Gianni Motti, Cléo Perrin, Raymond Pettibon, Julien Previeux, Charlotte Simonnet, Internationale Situationniste, Lawrence Weiner (Galerie Michel Rein, París, 2026), Coller l’oreille aux colimacons (Les Réserves, Frac Ile-de-France, París, 2024); Sur le feu (Palais des Beaux-Arts, París, 2023). Louis Jacquot (b. 1994, Paris) “Tantalo”, the artist’s first solo exhibition in Mexico, will be up through March 1 at the Biblioteca Vasconcelos in Mexico City. The project presents 20 floating paintings that engage in dialogue with the library’s building. One of the most emblematic sites of modern Mexican architecture designed by Alberto Kalach, which strongly evokes the surrealist infrastructure depicted by Jorge Luis Borges in his short story The Library of Babel; through the impression of an infinite and ultimately unattainable body of knowledge. Distributed like a map suspended in the air, the works function simultaneously as paintings, objects, and a unified installation. Conceived as an immersive experience that encourages the public to wander throughout the labyrinth-like structure and appreciate the countless interior views and angles within the building, the installation will be accompanied by participatory workshops and a mediation program with local audiences. The project explores reflection and perception, fostering a sensitive dialogue between art, public space, and knowledge. Made with blue cotton canvases of domestic origin and industrial pigments that disperse light, the works never appear as fixed images, remaining responsive to the gravity of the space itself and becoming activated by the various sources of light reflecting off the pigments on the surface of the paintings. “My works are about the kind of wearing away of the current state of things and accepting that your life disperses in different ways. It’s about accepting the inevitability of people coming and going, how relationships change, and learning to be present with the way things fall apart.” -Casey Bolding Casey Bolding’s first solo show in Europe up next at @villamagdalena33 Madrid, opening on Friday October 24th. Organized in collaboration with @polinaberlingallery , on view will be the artist’s new suite of paintings created over the last three months at Castel Carmel Artist Residency in Castillion, France, thanks to @mt_mathisen and @villamagdalena33 residency in the Basque Country. Founded by Cy Schnabel, 31, the son of renowned American painter Julian Schnabel, Villa Magdalena gallery in San Sebastian has developed an independent program over the past four years, composed both of young talent and older artists poised for rediscovery. Among them is Mie Yim (born in 1963), a New York-based, Korean-born painter. Mie Yim creates colorful and rich compositions, often depicting lush gardens, at once fantastical and menacing, that are populated by strange beings that may not at first meet the eye. At ARCO, at Villa Magdalena’s stand, one of her whimsical reinterpretations of Fragonard’s painting “The Encounter” is on display. It is a fascinating composition in which a science-fiction flower-insect plays the central role (€29,000). @arco @villamagdalena33 @cschnabel

Cecilia de Nisco’s first institutional solo exhibition “Stavo cercando il tuo cuore lì dentro ma ho trovato solo latte” curated by Marta Papini @marta_papini is up until March 1, 2025 @fondazionebonollo The title of Cecilia De Nisco’s solo exhibition, curated by Marta Papini, is Stavo cercando il tuo cuore lì dentro ma ho trovato solo latte (“I Was Looking for Your Heart Inside There, but I Found Only Milk”), designed specifically for the spaces of the former Church of the Dimesse. For this exhibition, the artist has created seven new paintings, offering insight into her artistic research path. The subjects of De Nisco’s works are bodies in motion, frozen in a suspended moment where their intentions remain ambiguous, eternally suspended between desire and violence. Cecilia De Nisco (b. 1997, Parma, Italy) lives and works in Vienna, Austria. Upcoming exhibitions include her first institutional solo show in Asia at TAG Art Museum (Qingdao, China) in April 2025 and “360°: Why We Paint”, a group exhibition in two chapters articulated between By Art Matters Museum (Hangzhou, China) and Centro per l'Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci (Prato, Italy). Recent group exhibitions have taken place at Andrew Kreps, New York, and Almine Rech, London. She will be featured in an upcoming duo show with Richard Tinkler at Villa Magdalena curated by Cy Schnabel in May 2025. Cecilia de Nisco is represented by VIN VIN Vienna/Naples.
