Excited to share that my friend @jaihang will be showing at LA Art Book Fair @printedmatter_artbookfairs this weekend! May 7-10 at ArtCenter College of Design. 950 S Raymond Ave. I’m driving down on Friday and I’ll be helping him table on Saturday and Sunday! Please come say hi and see his work 💕 Jaihang 家夯 is a Taiwanese photographer and friend who i really treasure, and I’d love for friends in LA to meet him and see the beautiful work he does! We worked on an application for a fellowship for the fair and Jaihang won a 2026 Shannon Michael Cane Award to show in the US for the first time and be part of the fair. I’m so proud of him. Presenters: CCC & Edge on the Square  Calligraphy & Queer Lucky Scrolls at 2026 Flower Market Art Zone with: 🖊Chan Mak Ming was born in a scholarly family in Shantou City, Guangdong Province. He later moved to Hong Kong and founded Moming Studio to teach calligraphy. His works have won many awards and were published and exhibited at Guangdong Provincial Painting Academy, Hong Kong Museum of Art, National Museum of China, and other institutions. Mr. Chan will create calligraphy for community members to celebrate the lunar new year and share joy and love through art. 🖊Dixon Ngai @lam.duen.shan.ming graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Department of Environmental and Interior Design. His work spans objects, painting, and space, and he continuously researches the history of Chinese export porcelain. At the Art Zone, Dixon will create combined calligraphy (合體字, where multiple Chinese characters are artfully merged into a single glyph) using stamps inspired by the floral motifs of historical Chinese export porcelain. 🖊Vincent Chong @crystalmonkeycalligraphy aka Crystal Monkey is a Queer mixed-race Chinese-American artist working in Chinese calligraphy, seal carving, painting, drawing, and performance. They are currently pursuing MFA in Art Practice at Stanford University and are a student of Taipei-based calligrapher Wu Wensheng. 「陳煌越印」 巴林石,2.5cm x 2.5cm A seal for my calligraphy daughter @vietranaway I carved last fall. It incorporates a Han dynasty turtle motif with bird worm seal script. 刻給我書法學妹煌越的印章,應用漢印的烏龜形式,還有銅印式的鳥蟲篆。這棵巴林石,對我來說很特別,因為我只有這一顆,用它給這麼特別的朋友刻章,我就很開心☺️

Vincent, 2024 Oil on linen, 48in x 36in painted from life with @vincent_cy_chen This was the first painting of this scale I painted from life. I remember feeling so nervous in the 4 hours we spent sitting together over two days. It was the very beginning of my most recent body or work where i’m focusing on looking without taking photographs. the only material impression of the moment becomes bodily gesture. Thanks for sitting Vincent

FLEX WITH CALLIGRAPHY, DRAG, AND GYMNASTICS. Vincent Chong blurs the lines between ancient art and queer performance at Edge's SUPER FLEX festival! About the Artist: Vincent Chong (莊志明) is a Queer mixed-race Chinese-American artist, Chinese calligrapher, seal engraver, and performance artist. They will receive their MFA in Art Practice from Stanford University (2026), and hold a BFA in Fine Art and BA in Mathematics from Cornell University. They are a student of Taipei-based calligrapher Wu Wensheng, and in NY, developed their work alongside Bushwick’s Queer and drag nightlife performers and NY’s dance community. They’ve exhibited at Seizan NYC, Co-Prosperity, Armature Projects, Lehman College, La MaMa, SoMad, Skånes Konstförening, Center for Book Arts, Museum of Chinese in America, Site Brooklyn, PAAM. Performances include Metropolitan Museum of Art, 100 Hinsdale, Hole Pics NYC, Columbus Park, Center for Performance Research, QNA, Inter Arts Center, MoMA PS1, Abrons Art Center, Movement Research at Judson Church, Abrons Art Center.
