Thank you to one of the largest sponsors of ECMC Berlin: Associated Bike Collectives (ABC)! ABC aims to put collectives and co-operatives in the spotlight. Founded for ECMC 2023 in Budapest, it aims to provide support to the member collectives and structures across Europe. It not only focuses on courier cooperatives, but also welcomes bicycle collectives with their own workshops, and co-ops focusing on political work. “We all work on and around bikes, attend events, and also do a lot on the side to maintain our self-organised structures. ABC wants to change the recognition around this, and improve representation. The goal? Small contributions for each member, big outcome with united power! Today we celebrate our 7th birthday/bird-day! On 13.12.2017 4 birds filed the paperwork and founded Crow. It’s been fun, it’s been difficult, it’s been many things, but we are so happy to have worked with each other over the years, and we’re excited for what’s to come! 1: some food couriers found a car-free courier collective 2: from road bike->cargo bike->cargo+trailer 3: our first rental contract! The cost of 2sqm has never before been discussed so passionately! 4: hustling through lockdown with @8greenbottles 5: our first local! The dream of a Courier hub & bike shop <3 6: building up @crowcyclery 7: ‘warehouse’ V1.0 with @8greenbottles 8: working groups on the terrace 9: 2024 new office! 10: 2024 warehouse version 4.0!

On Monday last week, we made our own Female Courier Awareness Day in Crow. We came together and filled all the shifts. We took the time and space for us to be us. Little history lesson from @messmedia : In 1991a mayoral proclamation decreed that October 9 of every year would be Messenger Appreciation Day in San Francisco. October 9 is "10-9" in radio code and means "Say again" or "What?" 10-9 Day is celebrated informally all over the world. Let's remind ourselves of what bike couriers contribute to society doing this dangerous, but beautiful work: • a solution to the problems of pollution, congestion and gridlock faced by large urban centres • less use of space on the road and less damage to the roads • increased safety of pedestrians compared to cars. (studies show that pedestrians are "250 times more likely to be injured by a car, bus or taxi" than by a bike) • value added service to Organisations and brands that seek to improve sustainability and efficiency • promoting the bicycle as a viable form of transportation and economic development So be kind to your couriers, especially when they show up wet, smelly and grumpy!
