Today is the inaugural Crouch Valley Wine Fair, a celebration of England’s most exciting premium wine region, where vineyards and producers will showcase their incredible wines made exclusively from Crouch Valley fruit. With the warmest and driest climate in the UK, the Crouch Valley is home to the most densely planted vineyard area in the country. Spanning the riverbanks on both sides of the Crouch, the landscape is shaped by a warming estuarine influence and distinctive, mineral-rich London Clay soils. With naturally low rainfall, high sunshine hours, and Growing Degree Days (a measure of heat accumulation) comparable to some of the world’s most respected cool-climate wine regions, the Crouch Valley stands alone in the UK for its ability to consistently achieve high levels of ripeness, even in difficult vintages. Underpinned by thoughtful viticulture and skilled winemaking, this exceptional terroir is firmly establishing the Crouch Valley as one of the world’s emerging premium wine regions. Harvest has started in the Crouch Valley, on our early-ripening varieties. We have a long harvest season here, that can start at the beginning of September and run into early November depending on the year. A time of year we wait all year for is finally upon us! #thecrouchvalley #crouchvalley #harvest2025

Welcome to The Crouch Valley: England’s finest wine region 🍷 In the beautiful Essex countryside lies The Crouch Valley, the most densely planted area of vines in the UK, producing the best wines in the country. The ability to produce exceptionally high quality still wine is what has truly defined The Crouch Valley, with grapes here reaching full phenolic ripeness with perfectly balanced acidity. Having the warmest, driest and sunniest microclimate in the UK has certainly contributed to this, along with moisture-retaining London clay soil and the protective River Crouch pictured here at the centre of the valley.
