Before they launched Riverview Crouch Valley, husband and wife team Umut and Katie Yesil ran a PR business for food and drink startups in London.
Having always dreamed of their own drinks business, they went back to Katie’s farming family roots and planted a vineyard in Essex in 2018, naming it Riverview Crouch Valley.
In 2022 they launched their first vintage, with their 2020 Chardonnay, which received rave reviews from wine critics, buyers and the public.
All of the wines are single vineyard and single varietal, sold by the vintage, to highlight the truly incredible grapes - and wine that can be produced - from the Essex Crouch Valley.
This year they look forward to releasing their first still rosé 2023 Pinot Meunier, their first sparkling 2021 Pinot Meunier, along with their bestselling Pinot Noir and Chardonnay still wines from 2022.
The future is bright and ever so exciting! 💫
Riverview Pinot Noir Rosé 2025
Katie & Umut Yesil of Riverview have quietly been producing excellent Chardonnay & Pinot Noir since 2020 from their vineyard in the increasingly trendy Crouch Valley of Essex.
This, their 2nd Rosé is the 1st wine made in conjunction with Sam Kemp & Gary Trott at the new RAD Custom Crush winery in London’s docklands, released today, it’s absolutely fantastic!
Pale pink
The nose is full of enticing red berries, hints of nectarines & sea breeze freshness.
Delicate & dry, medium bodied, with smooth texture, the wine opens up to reveal cranberry & strawberry fruit, underpinned by zesty citrus notes & a hint of salinity on the finish.
Absolutely delicious on its own, there is enough structure to pair well with charcuterie, hard cheeses & seafood. @riverviewcrouchvalley@radcustomwinery@crouchvalley@crouchvalleyfestival@greatbritishwine@timsfoodandwinetravels

Hand harvested on 29th September 2025 on a cool misty morning in the Crouch Valley, our beautiful Pinot Noir, destined for our single vineyard still rosé.
Harvest is an incredibly special time of year for us as a family, our favourite time of year in fact.
Bringing in the fruit we’ve cared for all year is both rewarding and emotional, the culmination of months spent in the vineyard through every change in season.
Now, seeing this vintage come to life in the bottle, with the release of our 2025 Pinot Noir Rosé feels truly magical. Every step has been ours from the vineyard through to the glass, and that means everything to us.

A little behind the scenes of our newly released single vineyard 2025 Pinot Noir Rosé…
Hand-harvested on 29th September 2025 from our 10-acre vineyard in the Crouch Valley, bottled on 14th April 2026 in the winery at the Royal Albert Docks, East London.
Vinho verde yeast was used, fermented in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation to preserve freshness. 3-4 hours on skins, resulted in a beautiful pale rosé.
This is a premium dry pale English rosé with crisp, refreshing acidity. The palate is bright and lively, with red berries, vibrant citrus, delicate tropical notes and a touch of salinity, reflecting the vineyard’s close proximity to the river.
We’re so happy to share this very special wine with you.

What an incredible feeling, planting our second vineyard in the Crouch Valley. A truly momentous day.
We planted 10 acres of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the historic village of Canewdon overlooking the River Crouch, on land that has been farmed by our family since 1958.
Here’s to the next chapter 🍷

Our second stop was to @riverviewcrouchvalley 🍇
✨ 11 acres of dreamy south-facing vines overlooking the River Crouch and a proper passion project turned reality. Founded in 2018 by husband-and-wife duo Umut & Katie, it all started as a kitchen table idea with Katie’s farming family… and now it’s one to watch in Essex wine 👀🍷
Whilst walking the vines, we were lucky enough to sample their newest edition of the Rosé wine which is yet to be bottled! This was like summer in a glass in the sunshine 🌞
To finish, we cracked open a bottle of their stunning Pinot Noir, which, if you can get your hands on a bottle, is unreal! #EssexWine #EssexVineyard #CrouchValley #EssexWinery
Let’s talk about soil health.
This is now our 5th year with no herbicides, instead choosing to manage the undervine mechanically, rather than chemically.
Pictured here is the result of our first go with the undervine weeder machine this year, which we started this week.
We’re very happy to see so many worms in the soil. Worms help to naturally aerate the soils, and their presence is an excellent indicator of soil health.
This is all part of our mission to protect soil health and biodiversity on the vineyard, which is hugely important to us.
