Part of many experiments with texture during my graduation project. In its most fragile state, the sculpture was left under dripping water to mimic natural erosion of stone.

During the most significant year of my bachelor I fell into an autistic burnout. It is a state of prolonged fatigue, increased sensory sensitivity, and regression in skills, including survival skills like eating, speaking, and basic self-care tasks. Life-long masking and pushing my body past its limits to meet the expectations of society culminated into a complete shutdown.
For my graduation project I decided to illustrate the darkest moments of burnout - feelings of stagnation, hopelessness, extreme exhaustion and deterioration of body and mind. Through the motive of decay, a collection of 5 ceramic pieces portrays fragmented (no longer human) body. Rotting in bed, seemingly forever.
Iโm still in recovery and it may take years.

When glazing the inside of a vase by pouring glaze in and out, accidental drips often occur on the outside. Rather than wiping these drips off, I decided to experiment with them by layering different glazes on top or around. In a way, the glaze itself guided the creation of the patterns.
