I had a great experience at Richard Merkin Middle School working with the incredible Ms. Lounds and her amazing 6th grade students. I brought my Character Workshop to their classroom, where students created cartoon versions of themselves as Trailblazers to help inspire their new school mascot. We began with the basics—shapes, silhouettes, poses, and expressions—then added personal details like clothing and accessories. From there, students brought their characters to life digitally using @procreate on their iPads. I’m so proud of all the students, they blew me away with their creativity and dedication. It was amazing to see each of them complete the workshop and design such unique characters. Their energy and imagination were truly inspiring. This two-week workshop taught me a lot, and I’m excited to continue growing as an Art Instructor. I hope I was able to inspire them as much as they inspired me. Big thank you to Ms. Lounds, Principal Shahbaz, and the entire RMMS team for the warm welcome and support.
