DSRPT.: Being a woman in music often means navigating spaces that weren’t always built with you in mind. How have you learned to claim your space without compromising who you are?
Jozzy: I’m still learning. I don’t want to compromise myself so it’s just a few things maybe that I probably won’t get or maybe I will get when the times right. I’m still learning that situation. I’m not for the male gaze, I guess look wise, they think it’s a problem. I’m still a woman and I still have have great music. The scary part I think for a lot of people that are in power— this is what they think, this is not my perception of what they think, like damn, well if they look at you they don’t want us anymore as far as like women and men. Everybody has a preference. I can’t compromise who I am anyway because that’s just who I am but I’m still learning that sh*t as the day goes by.
